The opportunity
Join our Optical Process Engineering team as a Senior Metrology Engineer, where you'll play a key role in advancing our cutting-edge light-field technology. In this position, you'll own and deploy metrology tools within our facility, ensuring precision and reliability in our high-volume waveguide manufacturing processes. You'll collaborate with a cross-functional team of design, R&D, process, quality, and manufacturing engineers to drive innovation and process readiness at scale.
What you’ll do
- Lead metrology equipment management – install, validate, and optimize metrology tools for waveguide manufacturing, including recipe setups, statistical validation (GR&R, matching studies), long-term stability (LTS), and acceptance testing for new equipment.
- Perform high-precision defect inspections on wafers post-lithographic processes using techniques such as AFM, spectral reflectance, and optical defect inspection.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including equipment manufacturers, process engineers, and R&D teams, to implement next-generation metrology solutions, with a focus on automation and data structures.
- Analyze metrology data to identify potential measurement errors, diagnose process issues, and provide insights to process and manufacturing teams.
- Support defect analysis efforts by partnering with process engineers to identify root causes and generate detailed reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and optimize metrology equipment, including developing qualification strategies, calibration schedules, work instructions, and training programs for technicians and operators.
- Work hands-on with equipment in a cleanroom environment as needed.
The experience you bring
- 5+ years of experience in metrology or optical engineering, ideally at the nanoscale level.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, physics, or materials science, or equivalent relevant experience in a related field. We value your expertise and professional achievements.
- Proficiency in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally with engineers from different disciplines.
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis software such as JMP.
It’s exciting if you also have
- M.S. or Ph.D. in an engineering discipline.
- Experience in process engineering or related fields within a cleanroom environment.
- Experience with SEM, EDX, uXRF, and ellipsometry.
- Basic coding skills in Python or MATLAB to support automation and data analysis.
