The opportunity
As a Staff Color Scientist within our Optical Engineering group, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize existing color image processing algorithms, enhance calibration techniques, and develop new models of human color perception. The ideal candidate will apply their deep knowledge of color science and engineering to advise the team on mitigating issues of color uniformity and binocular color vision, making a direct impact on the development of cutting-edge augmented reality products.
What you’ll do
- Research, develop and facilitate integration of color calibration algorithms (including white balance correction, color mixing, etc.)
- Support and optimize existing colorimetry methods and color calibration algorithms
- Characterize, model, and analyze performance of displays and imaging systems on color metrics
- Develop and apply models of human color vision and verify models with empirical data
- Plan and conduct psychophysical studies with human observers
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to bridge communication gaps, clarify requirements, identify risks, and support transparent exchange of data
The experience you bring
- 8+ years of professional experience in color science in a technological or academic environment
- MS degree or higher in Color Science, Optical Engineering, Human Vision Science, or related fields
- Working knowledge of optics (including camera systems, projector systems, etc.)
- Scientific background on human color vision (including models of color adaptation, chromatic contrast sensitivity, etc.)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and providing leadership and expertise for new projects
- Fluent in Matlab and/or Python and digital image processing
- Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and documentation skills
It’s exciting if you also have
- Hands-on experience with testing automation
- Experience with human subjects experiments
- Knowledge of C#/C++

US Base Salary Range
$160,000 - $180,000 USD
