GARDEN HOST | JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY
At Magnolia, the Garden Host is responsible for maintaining the gardens and landscapes of select Magnolia properties, as well as exhibiting excellent customer service through communicating best plant care and plant knowledge to guests visiting the Magnolia grounds. This position works from various locations in and near Waco, Texas. It reports to the Grounds Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the landscaping and maintenance of Magnolia gardens
- Perform ground maintenance tasks such as preparing soil and planting beds, watering, weeding, and pruning*
- Install new projects, including loading and unloading materials, preparing planters and planting areas, transplanting a variety of plants, and other related responsibilities*
- Propagate plants of all types from cuttings, seeds, and plugs, and maintain care for young plants*
- Monitor and treat plant health problems*
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and various similar pieces of equipment*
- Keep inventory and perform maintenance on tools and supplies
- Provide high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service
- Maintain cleanliness and quality of work area
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment
- Perform work in a safe way, following all safety protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- 0-1 years of related work experience preferred
- Previous experience using gardening tools and powered landscaping equipment preferred
- Must be available to work weekends, special events, and holidays as business needs require
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and arms to reach, handle, feel; utilize fine motor dexterity of fingers; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working outside and exposed to all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
