JOB TITLE: Director of International Franchise Operations

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of International Franchise Operations will lead the operational success of our international franchise system, ensuring brand excellence across diverse markets. This role is responsible for directing and executing franchisee onboarding as well as the ongoing operational support of existing international franchise markets. This role is pivotal in driving the operational standards of Magnolia Bakery while creating and fine-tuning new SOPs and best practices for the international franchisees and support team. The Director of International Franchise Operations will develop strong relationships with franchise partners, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure all current and future operational needs are executed to the high standards of Magnolia Bakery.

REPORTS TO: Vice President of International Development

COMPENSATION: $91,200 - $135,000 plus 10% annual bonus eligibility

LOCATION: Remote or Hybrid - New York or Florida states only

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

Operational Oversight and Support

  • Lead the international operations support team to ensure franchisees maintain brand consistency in menu offerings, store design, customer experience, and adherence to operational SOPs.
  • Conduct annual evaluations and financial audits to ensure franchisees comply with operational and contractual obligations, including development schedules and brand standards.
  • Identify operational discrepancies through audits and develop actionable improvement plans to support franchisees in resolving gaps and maintaining brand standards.
  • Collaborate with home office leadership across departments to refine and enhance operational SOPs, ensuring continuous improvement of international franchise support initiatives.
  • Leverage tools like FranConnect to analyze sales reports, P&Ls, and guest surveys, identifying regional and market-specific trends to address performance challenges proactively.
  • Drive the development and ongoing refinement of systems and processes to enhance overall unit performance and franchisee success across international markets.
  • Facilitate effective top-down and bottom-up communication with all internationally franchised bakeries to ensure alignment with brand goals and address operational needs promptly.
  • Lead operational committees and franchise support meetings (ie. Site Selection, Monthly Market Meetings, etc.)

 

Onboarding & New Bakery Openings

  • Direct and execute the international franchise onboarding process, lead site selection, design approval, sourcing support, and new market entry initiatives to ensure seamless launches.
  • Lead communications with the site approval committee to secure timely approval of new international locations, ensuring alignment with brand standards and market strategy.
  • Partner with the Director of Franchise Training to develop and certify training personnel and bakeries ensuring robust support for new market openings and adherence to training standards.
  • Manage all activities related to timely new store openings internationally, including authorizing locations for opening through on-site visits and providing pre-opening training support in partnership with the Director of Franchise Training.
  • Lead new market post-opening analysis to further improve new market entries and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of operational leadership experience within an international F&B or hospitality brand required.
  • 50% travel domestic and international travel required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms (such as FranConnect) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates experience in onboarding and supporting franchisees across diverse markets, with a deep understanding of cultural nuances and business best practices.
  • Strong track record of ensuring brand consistency in menu offerings, store design, customer experience, and the implementation of SOPs.
  • Proficiency in analyzing sales reports, P&Ls, and financial information to identify trends and address challenges.
  • Thrives on working in a collaborative environment.
  • Able to execute cogent action plans and completes deliverables on time.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to refine operational systems and support international franchisees.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills as it relates to delivering feedback and action plans to franchisees.
  • Shows a track record of positively improving operational standards and procedure.
