Title: Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR)

Salary Range: $158,200 - $200,000 plus 10% annual bonus eligibility

Location: New York City, in-office

OVERVIEW

The VP of HR will lead the human capital team of Magnolia Bakery. This individual will focus on communicating our shared SWEET core values across employees, customers, investors, and the communities we engage, while creating, and managing the strategy and procedures to build and retain exceptional team members. The VP of HR will ensure the alignment of our core values in all our processes and initiatives, and serve as the organization’s culture advocate to attract, develop and retain the best talent possible.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Provides creative and insightful solutions to critical HR issues and advises other members of the executive team accordingly.

  • Own and improve the total HR function across all business units of the organization.
  • Maintain an effective level of business literacy including company goals, mission, financial position, strategy, competition, technology, and culture.
  • Drive change management within the company, spearheading initiatives to drive strategic growth. 
  • Partner with management to address day-to-day HR operations issues such as employee relations, compensation reviews, escalated benefits issues, performance management and training.
  • Play a role in the strategic deliberations of the executive team, acting as a strategic advisor for the people and culture functions.
  • Supervise and lead the entire HR team in creating an inviting and cohesive employee experience, while ensuring that company values are reflected in all people-oriented decisions.
  • Direct the Head of Human Resources and Compliance to implement and manage compliance efforts with all the employment laws and regulations that govern all aspects of the employee life cycle.
  • Act as an employee champion and change agent by anticipating HR-related needs and delivering value added services for the benefit of the employees.
  • Provide insightful crisis management advise when required.
  • Guide management and HR team on how to investigate claims of misconduct and escalate to legal and security team as required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure regulatory compliance. Identify trends that could impact the organization objectives.
  • Evaluate and optimize organizational structure in line with evolving needs of the Company.
  • Direct the Recruiting Manager for all recruiting and hiring efforts to ensure positive staffing efforts across all multi-state locations.
  • Develop and manage approved annual budgets for the department and perform periodic cost and productivity analyses.
  • Promote the growth, development and capability of talent across the business while creating and maintaining comprehensive talent retention plans.
  • In partnership with the Operations team, design and implement appropriate employee recognition and incentive programs.
  • Design and manage the organization's health and well-being programs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 8+ years of progressive HR management experience working with a variety of functions, including recruiting, benefits, compliance and payroll in a medium-sized organization.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • SHRM or PHR certification(s) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading a team of HR professionals to excellence.
  • Experience with successfully driving change in an organization.
  • The ability to influence at all levels within an organization.
  • Strong strategic skills to enable the development of people strategies within the business.
  • The ability to lead and coach at executive level and beyond. This includes developing a coaching ethos throughout an organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability in stakeholder management.
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills involving complex data, as well as presenting findings at board level.
  • Dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethics within an organization. This includes developing relevant processes and programs within the business.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • The ability to run successful recruitment exercises and to develop successful staff retention programs.
