Location:

Remote positions are open to applicants based anywhere in the continental U.S. Hybrid positions are open to applicants based in the Phoenix, Arizona area.

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Strategy is a pivotal position that involves close collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to refresh and develop the MAW Enterprise Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan, and Quarterly Reviews. Moreover, the Sr. Manager, Strategy oversees the prioritization, planning, and management of key strategic initiatives and projects, driving enterprise-wide transformation initiatives that align with our long-term strategic objectives. To ensure a successful change journey, the incumbent will leverage the Prosci methodology to guide stakeholders through complex change journeys, ensuring alignment between organizational goals and individual adoption.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Program/Project Management – experience in leading projects, as well as managing a portfolio of projects across various departments and disciplines. Also, experience in supporting junior project managers through guidance and coaching.
  • Verbal and written communication and presentation experience in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strategic Mindset – having a big picture view of opportunities, with the ability to define tactical implementation plans.
  • Business Transformation and Innovation – ability to drive transformational and innovation efforts across the Make-A-Wish organization.
  • Analytical Insights – experience in framing key strategic questions to answer complex problems with executive leadership.
  • Ability to Interpret Data – ability to translate facts and data into action.
  • Analytic Aptitude – data driven analytics experience to support and justify recommendations.
  • Collaboration - understands organizational dynamics, navigates expertly, and can achieve success in a consensus driven, collaborative environment.
  • Change Management –stakeholder engagement, resistance mitigation, readiness assessments, and the activation of sponsor and manager roles to ensure adoption and sustainability.
  • Ability to Influence – influence across diverse stakeholders, levels and geographies without direct authority.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads Strategic Projects & Planning team to support MAW key Strategic Project Initiatives and Enterprise Strategic Planning. May require individual project support, as well as leading program of efforts.
  • Support the Make-A-Wish® enterprise strategic planning process including discovering and synthesizing information from multiple sources to generate insights and recommendations on business strategies and opportunities.
  • Provides leadership to business partners and facilitation of councils and development of strategic planning vision, process and tools across the National Office and Chapters, disciplines and practice that help generate and sustain successful outcomes.
  • Support development of robust strategic plan for MAW America and partner with MAW Chapters to deploy.
  • Tracks key strategic focus and initiative key performance indicators (KPIs) on a quarterly basis. Demonstrated ability to create clear, compelling, and visually engaging PowerPoint presentations tailored to diverse audiences, including executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing for Quarterly internal reviews and helps facilitate updates with senior leadership and business partners. Working with internal communication for Board, Chapter and National leadership.
  • Leads and manages a portfolio of strategic projects and initiatives that align with organizational leadership goals. Manages program execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Leads team and helps develop and updates project plans including information such as project objectives, technologies, systems, specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing.
  • Leads, develops and supports member(s) of the Strategy team by setting clear expectations, establishing priorities, and managing performance and professional growth and development.
  • Guides innovation and change against evolving goals/business objectives and the enterprise strategic plan.
  • Builds and drives the business case for innovation and organizational transformation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 7+ years professional experience with 5+ years of experience in project management and/or strategic planning.
  • 2+ years of leadership and people management experience required.
  • Prosci Change Management certification or similar experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills required, specifically in Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to thrive in a remove environment.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • May require work outside a traditional Monday – Friday work week, and outside normal business hours.

This Role's Hiring Range

$90,000 - $116,000 USD
