
Engineering Manager
SUMMARY
This role will be part of a fast pace - high performing team tasked with tackling the challenges in designing, building, and setting-up MARA’s data center facilities and major infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling within operational data centers around the globe.
The engineering manager plays a critical role in overseeing and managing engineering scopes from conception to completion. Hired individual will work closely with the head of site development and will play a critical role in leading design and standardization of our datacenters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the best design solution by applying industry knowledge while considering timeline and budgeting requirements.
- Act as primary lead and provide technical direction for multiple sites during engineering, procurement, construction and operations as required.
- Be focal point of contact for data center layout, design and sizing.
- Design electrical systems, circuits, and components in accordance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Support procurement of long electrical equipment and materials, including creating specifications, technical bid packages, vendor selection, and recommendations.
- Prepare drawings/models for a project using the application of theoretical and practical design knowledge.
- Provide design direction for new and existing datacenters.
- Provide efficiency reviews of and/or value engineering options for existing or vendor designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses to determine project design viability and potential challenges.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to engineering consultants, ensuring adherence to project plans and quality standards.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and associated systems, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including contractors, architects,` mechanical engineers, architects, and construction managers, to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
- Analyze and resolve problems at both a strategic and a functional level.
- Support business opportunities for MARA in the region.
- Stay current on the latest crypto and cooling technologies and mining optimizations.
- Travel 20-30% of the time within American continent.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on design of MV circuits and equipment sizing.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices, including knowledge of NEC, IEEE and life safety codes.
- Knowledge of medium and high voltage electrical systems and ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strong understanding of datacenter operations, power distribution, and cooling systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project objectives.
