Government Relations and Policy Associate

SUMMARY 

The Government Relations and Policy Associate will support MARA’s Government Affairs & Social Responsibility team, working closely with industry associations, 501(c)(3) organizations, and team leads to promote policies favorable to the company’s interests. This role includes managing relationships, analyzing policy developments, supporting the creation of advocacy strategies, and assisting with political and industry engagement. The role contributes to MARA’s growth by advancing policy goals that enable successful development of Bitcoin mining facilities and promoting the company’s leadership in innovative technology, energy efficiency, and economic growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with industry associations, nonprofit organizations [501(c)(3)], and internal stakeholders to promote policies that benefit MARA’s operations and the broader Bitcoin mining ecosystem.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with external partners, policymakers, and regulatory bodies to foster supportive environments for company initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on policy developments, legislative changes, and regulatory trends impacting the digital asset and energy sectors. 
  • Support the creation and implementation of advocacy strategies, including drafting position papers, preparing briefing materials, and coordinating outreach efforts. 
  • Assist in political engagement activities, such as attending meetings, events, and hearings, and providing logistical support for lobbying efforts. 
  • Contribute to internal reporting on policy impacts, identifying opportunities for MARA to lead in areas like innovative technology adoption, energy efficiency improvements, and economic development. 
  • Aid in the development of social responsibility initiatives that align with MARA’s commitment to sustainable practices and community engagement. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Government Affairs & Social Responsibility team’s objectives

 
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in government relations, policy analysis, advocacy, or a similar role, preferably in the technology, energy, or financial services sectors. 
  • Familiarity with the cryptocurrency or blockchain industry, including Bitcoin mining operations, is highly desirable. 
  • Strong understanding of U.S. political processes, regulatory frameworks, and policy advocacy strategies. 
  • Experience working with industry associations, nonprofits, or government entities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications.
