
Senior Manager of Deployments
Summary:
The Senior Manager of Deployments will lead the installation of cooling and control systems in data centers, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards. Responsibilities include project planning, detailed assessments, system deployment, commissioning, testing, and safety management. Ideal candidates will have a background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with experience in datacenter deployments, and will also possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, HVAC, networking, and security, coupled with exceptional project management and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise installation:
- Recruit, train, manage and lead a team of junior deployment contractors for the installation of our cooling and control system equipment, ensuring that it is installed according to the design specifications and relevant industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress of the installation work, identify and address any issues or deviations promptly.
Project Planning:
- Develop a detailed project plan for the installation of the cooling system, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with various teams, such as construction, electrical, and IT, to ensure that the installation work is carried out in a coordinated and efficient manner.
Assessment:
- You must have an extreme attention to detail and ‘pre-mortem’ skills to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the data center's cooling requirements, electrical and network topology, site layout, load ramp up/down times, future expansion plans and all known and unknown factors that can potentially impact the deployment.
Cooling system deployment and bring up:
- Lead a team of technicians to do- server/hardware assembly, install wire harnesses, install low voltage electrical systems, plumb drycoolers, and install pass-throughs.
Control system deployment and bring up:
- Lead a team of technicians to do- install SCADA, deploy firmware, deploy and calibrate sensors, install and QC HMI, install and QC e-stop, configure access to HMI and e-stop and install switch/networking.
Commissioning and Testing:
- Plan and execute the commissioning and testing of the cooling system to ensure that it functions properly and meets the performance requirements. This includes conducting various tests, such as performance tests, leak tests, and emergency shutdown tests, and working with the vendor's technical support team to resolve any issues that arise during the testing process.
Safety Management:
- Develop and implement safety procedures and policies for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the cooling system.
- Ensure that all team members are trained in safety protocols and that proper safety equipment and measures are in place to prevent accidents and protect the well - being of personnel and the data center infrastructure.
Travel: 30% Percent of Travel if required

- Diploma, certification or a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in datacenter deployments ideally with:
- Experience in installing and testing low voltage electrical wiring, wire harnesses mechanical jigs
- Experience in computer assembly, system bring up, simple network debugging
- Nice to have: Programming skills in either: Java, Python, or JS, and experience with databases.
- Nice to have: Proficiency in UNIX, Linux Shell scripting and Windows operating systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
