Director, Commercial – AI Inference Marketplace

Miami, Florida, United States

SUMMARY

MARA is building the world’s first Sovereign-Neutral AI Inference Marketplace — a platform that transforms renewable energy and multi-silicon compute (GPU, FPGA, ASIC, wafer-scale) into liquid inference yield.

We aggregate performance across diverse silicon types and price inference by joules per token, creating a neutral exchange where enterprises, ISVs, and sovereign clouds can buy and sell compute with transparency and efficiency.

We’re hiring the founding commercial leader — a proven operator who can hit the ground running.

As Director, Commercial, you’ll be MARA’s external face for the inference marketplace — driving immediate customer acquisition, forging vendor and hosting partnerships, and closing high-value contracts.

This isn’t a crawl-walk-run role. It’s a run-now, build-as-you-scale mandate. You’ll execute in market from day one while laying the foundation for a commercial team that grows around you.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Own revenue and relationships from day one: build the initial pipeline, close anchor deals, and establish MARA’s presence in the inference ecosystem.
  • Lead end-user acquisition — drive adoption across enterprises, sovereign clients, and AI-native ISVs.
  • Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements — spanning silicon vendors, data-center providers, and sovereign partners.
  • Execute and scale go-to-market plans for MARA’s inference marketplace, including pricing, partner enablement, and deal frameworks.
  • Run joint business reviews and co-sell programs with silicon and hosting partners to expand marketplace liquidity.
  • Translate performance economics (joules per token, cost per inference) into compelling commercial narratives for customers.
  • Represent MARA externally — at executive briefings, industry events, and alliance forums as the commercial face of the world’s first AI inference exchange.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, energy, and operations teams to ensure customer SLAs and contracts translate into delivered capacity.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a commercial team as scale and demand grow.
  • travel (25–40%)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE and SKILLS

  • 8–12 years of enterprise sales, commercial, or partnership leadership experience in AI infrastructure, data centers, semiconductors, or cloud platforms.
  • Proven ability to execute immediately — personally close strategic deals while building process and structure in parallel.
  • Experience launching or scaling new business lines and securing anchor customers for emerging technologies.
  • Deep understanding of AI inference economics, silicon diversity, and energy-performance metrics (e.g., joules/token, MW yield).
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills at C-suite level across vendors, sovereigns, and enterprise customers.
  • Entrepreneurial, fast-moving operator who thrives in ambiguity and high velocity.

Preferred Experience

  • Marketplace or AIaaS commercial experience.
  • Experience with regulated or sovereign cloud environments.
  • Background linking technical partnerships to revenue growth.
