Your next role as a Miracle Maker
Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Financial Reporting team as a Senior Manager, Accounting. As a Senior Manager, Accounting you will lead the establishment and maintenance of the Company’s technical accounting policies, deliver technical accounting training, and provide support for key projects. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting topics, including revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, debt and equity instruments, property, plant, and equipment, business acquisitions, variable interest entities, going concern, and asset impairments.
How you will make an impact:
Technical Accounting Research & Guidance:
- Research and interpret U.S. GAAP literature for new business initiatives, contracts, or transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, leases, debt, stock-based compensation, and revenue recognition.
- Draft comprehensive accounting memos to document conclusions on complex or significant transactions.
Policy Development & Compliance:
- Analyze and implement new or updated accounting standards, assessing their impact on the company.
- Develop and update accounting policies to ensure alignment with evolving standards and industry best practices.
M&A and Complex Transactions:
- Support M&A activities, from due diligence through Day 1 accounting and post-closing technical accounting matters.
- Collaborate with operational finance teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and disclosure for significant transactions.
Revenue Accounting Oversight:
- Review and manage the company’s revenue cycle processes, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and accurate classification of deferred revenue.
- Evaluate material revenue contracts and modifications for appropriate accounting treatment.
- Prepare and review revenue recognition disclosures for financial audits and SEC filings.
- Perform and review monthly revenue-related close activities, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as the key point of contact for revenue accounting during audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
- Partner with internal teams, including finance and executive leadership, to provide timely revenue analysis and insights.
Training & Leadership:
- Facilitate technical accounting training sessions for company personnel.
- Lead and develop the revenue accounting team, fostering a cohesive, motivated, and high-performing group.
Audit & Reporting:
- Support the annual audit and quarterly reviews, ensuring resolution of technical accounting matters.
- Respond to ad hoc requests and prepare analyses or reports as needed.
The skills and experience that you will bring:
- CPA with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including a mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, FASB codifications and pronouncements, with expertise in ASC 606 principles.
- Proven ability to identify, research, and resolve complex accounting issues; experience implementing changes in policies and procedures is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present complex topics clearly to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and internal controls frameworks.
- High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address accounting and business challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with employees across all levels, management, and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $144,000 - $160,000. In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
