Your next role as a Miracle Maker
Cygnus Technologies, a Maravai LifeSciences company, is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Commercial team as a Senior Sales Representative. In this role, you will be responsible for driving and contributing to the product sales growth within the large biopharma, CDMOs and medium to small clinical stage biotech companies in the Northeast territory. Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Marketing and Business Development and working closely with Technical Business Development Manager- East, the position focuses on building and nurturing relationships with bioanalytical development scientists protecting and expanding Cygnus position as the “gold standard” in analytics for process-related impurity testing such as Host Cell Proteins, Host Cell DNA, Protein A leachates and other process impurities.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, leveraging scientific expertise, sales acumen, and a consultative approach to identify new opportunities, expand market share, and deliver high-value solutions that meet the evolving needs of bioanalytical development scientists.
How you will make an impact:
- Sales Strategy and Execution: Drive territory sales strategy by owning execution and meeting set quotas. Use advanced sales techniques to accelerate new customer acquisition, enhance product adoption, and expand sales within existing accounts.
- Customer Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted advisor for Cygnus Technologies, building and maintaining strong relationships with key decision-makers in bioanalytical sciences development groups.
- Product and Scientific Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of Cygnus products to effectively communicate product benefits and applications to customers.
- Scientific & Value-Based Selling: Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations tailored to specific customer applications and research needs.
- Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis: Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to refine sales strategies and identify market opportunities.
- Sales Tracking & Reporting: Utilize Salesforce (SFDC) to track sales activities, pipeline progression, and key performance metrics, ensuring data-driven decision-making and accurate forecasting.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the Business Development, Marketing, Product Development, and Customer Support teams to enhance market penetration and drive customer success.
- Perform other functions and duties as required
The skills and experience that you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience in life sciences or academic research sectors and a minimum of 3 years of sales experience. Advanced degree (M.Sc., Ph.D.) or professional sales certification is preferred. Experience selling into industrial accounts is preferred.
- Knowledgeable about biologics manufacturing, downstream process development and purification, bioanalytical techniques such as ELISA, other immunoassay formats, and Mass Spectrometry.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets through strategic sales planning and execution.
- Strong negotiation and consultative selling skills, with a record of accomplishment of closing complex deals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with researchers and institutions.
- Self-motivated with a strong drive for results and a proactive approach to sales.
- Experience with CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite for data tracking, reporting, and customer management.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $125,000 In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, sales bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
