Your next role as a Miracle Maker 

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our IT team as a Senior Systems Administrator. As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting both the corporate infrastructure (On-Prem), and business critical cloud platforms. With a strong emphasis on device management and security using Microsoft Intune, this role encompasses ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of all IT services. Operating within a 24x7 environment, this individual will also address issues during off-hours as needed.

How you will make an impact: 

  • Manage and maintain our corporate infrastructure, including Office 365, Azure, AWS, and the essential on-premises systems critical to business operations.
  • Administer and support Windows Servers, Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft Intune for comprehensive device management and security.
  • Ensure the operational status and security of all IT environments, including VMware, and other cloud-native or on-premises virtualization platforms.
  • Oversee daily operations such as cloud and local backup solutions, antivirus management, performance tuning, security updates, and configuration/patch management, with a special focus on Veeam backup solutions for both cloud and on-premises deployments.
  • Implement and enforce robust cloud and on-prem security policies, including data access controls, identity and access management (IAM), and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Deploy and manage devices using Microsoft Intune, adhering strictly to corporate policies and security standards across both cloud and on-premises frameworks.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive device management strategies encompassing mobile device management (MDM), mobile application management (MAM), and endpoint protection for a hybrid IT landscape.
  • Coordinate and manage software and hardware upgrades, ensuring compliance with both corporate and security standards across diverse environments.
  • Monitor and optimize costs and performance for both cloud services and on-premises deployments, making informed recommendations for efficiency improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, Intune, Veeam backup solutions, and on-premises systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Develop, update, and maintain system and procedural documentation for both cloud and on-premises infrastructure alongside device management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations, ensuring systems and devices are aligned with evolving business needs and offer seamless integration and support.
  • Lead and participate in comprehensive disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution across all IT platforms.
  • Mentor and guide junior administrators, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement within a hybrid IT environment.
  • Perform other functions and duties as required 

 The skills and experience that you will bring: 

  • 6+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator role, with extensive experience managing both cloud/SaaS and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, alongside significant experience with on-premises systems.
  • Proficiency in managing and securing Office 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams, as well as on-premises equivalents.
  • Conversant in network troubleshooting and basic Palo Alto Firewall administration.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Proven capability with Intune for device management, including MDM, MAM, and endpoint protection.
  • Robust knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and other relevant on-premises or cloud-native solutions.
  • Experienced in implementing and managing Veeam backup solutions across hybrid IT environments.
  • Experience with implementing cloud and on-premises security best practices, including IAM, MFA, and data protection.
  • Familiarity with both cloud cost management tools and strategies and on-premises resource allocation and efficiency.
  • Relevant certifications or related experience such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect– Associate are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, inspiring productivity and collaboration among teammates.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of quick thinking and adapting to meet both cloud and on-premises business needs.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for managing diverse IT environments and stakeholder expectations.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $122,646- $131,240.  In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package.  The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
