Dalio Family Office Overview:
The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for sophisticated tax compliance and related planning for DFO, its clients and related entities. The Dalio Family Office (DFO) supports Barbara and Ray Dalio and their family in their ventures and investments as well as their work through Dalio Philanthropies, including OceanX, Dalio Education, Endless Network, and the Beijing Dalio Foundation. The DFO is rooted in a culture of meaningful work and meaningful relationships and the family’s legacy of giving back. The office is headquartered in Westport, CT with a satellite office in New York City.
Tax Pillar Overview:
The Tax Pillar oversees tax compliance for the clients of the family office in partnership with a number of highly respected outside accounting firms. This compliance includes a wide array of areas, including investment and business entities as well as individual, philanthropic and trust taxation. The Tax Pillar also plays a key role working with other Pillars at the DFO on planning, accounting and implementing new strategies and structures for our clients.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Tax Manager who has significant experience with investment entity tax compliance, including hedge funds, management companies and private equity. The Senior Tax Manager should also have experience with the tax treatment of different investment assets and products, including but not limited to short sales, currency and futures trading. An ideal candidate will have experience with the US tax compliance for the limited partners in investment partnerships and with U.S. taxation of non-U.S. investments, and with cross-border matters, more generally.
Day-to-day responsibilities would include a combination of the following:
- Manage the overall tax compliance process for all investment entity returns ensuring timely and accurate filings.
- Review US and foreign tax returns and the related workpapers for investment entities prepared by our third-party service providers.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors.
- Resolve complex technical tax issues, consult with experts, prepare memoranda, and communicate research findings to senior management in a well-synthesized manner.
- Review of potential US and non-US investments and advise on tax consequences of the investment and its proposed structure.
- Manage tax audits for investment entities and responses to taxing authority inquiries and notices.
- Work with the Finance & Accounting Pillar to be a resource for tax planning and implementation.
- Lead or participate in other cross-functional projects providing leadership toward additional value-added activities in addition to supporting operational and departmental excellence, while fostering teamwork between all functions.
- Be a partner to the Investment pillar for tax matters including foreign activities and tax investing and coaching that team on investment tax matters.
- Act as an in-house tax resource to other departments.

Qualifications:
- 12+ Years minimum working at a CPA firm, hedge fund, or family office.
- Active CPA
- Extensive experience (at least 7 years) preparing and reviewing investment entity tax returns, including hedge funds and management companies with significant foreign investments.
- Preferred experience with private equity funds.
- 5+ years of managerial experience with oversight of tax compliance process, including resource allocation and budgeting.
- Strong working knowledge of taxation of investment products.
- Preferred experience with cross-border reporting issues and foreign entity filings.
Compensation:
Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary in the range from $275,000 -$375,000 (inclusive of a merit-based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset) and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and generous employer match for 401k.
