Finance Intern

As an Intern in our Finance Department, you will be exposed to financial transaction processing in a variety of areas, monthly financial reporting, review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and other general finance functions. The Finance Intern will gain valuable experience by assisting with a range of tasks, including daily cash balancing, processing cash receipts, managing accounts payable, and preparing journal entries. This role also offers exposure to various other departments within the organization, providing a comprehensive understanding of the finance cycle.
Immediate Supervisor:
Responsible to the Director, Operations Finance and Assistant Controller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts by gathering data, organizing spreadsheets, collaborating with members of other departments, and analyzing financial modeling.
- Provide support with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Validate financial data through cooperation from Finance team members and regular spot checks.
- Participate in the monthly close process through balance sheet account reconciliations and data analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of journal entries related to monthly General Ledger activity and adjusting journal entries.
- Analyze and research financial information pertaining to statements of operations, balance sheet, equity roll forward and cash flow statement.
- Assist in performing monthly general ledger account reconciliations for various accounts, including (but not limited to) cash, fixed assets, deferred revenue, and various other liability accounts.
- Assist in designing financial reports and provide trend reporting and other analysis on an ad-hoc basis.
- Support the audit/review of our financial statements by our external auditors.
- All other duties as assigned.

What you have:
- Completion of a minimum of one year of college level accounting classes.
- Proficient computer skills including MS suite and Google Suite
- Knowledge of data entry and word processing.
- Strong understanding of accrual basis accounting.
- Detail oriented with the ability to manage and meet deadlines.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment, in office environment.
- Strong communication skills - ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues of all seniority levels throughout the organization.
- Knowledge of financial statements.
