Test Engineer

As a Test Engineer I on the Operations Engineering team, you will support the development and execution of function tests for Markforged hardware products. You'll leverage systems to monitor and control device deployment using advanced telemetry and manufacturing data. Your role is key to ensure the devices meet top quality standards and satisfy customers. Reporting to the Manager of Operations Engineering you'll support contract manufacturers and suppliers, and work with the test, manufacturing, and engineering teams. The ideal person for this role communicates effectively, has strong engineering knowledge, can multitask, and thrives in a fast-paced setting.
What will you own?
- Support the development, generation, and validation of calibration and system-level testing of hardware and software
- Utilize real-world data to design and help build systems and software for validation of electro-mechanical assemblies, critical-to-quality specifications, functional requirements, and full system performance
- Support automated test creation and validation for sustaining and new product introduction launches to ensure new devices perform to strict standards required by our industry leading technology
- Work cross-functionally with Markforged Electrical, Hardware, and Software teams to ensure best practice for design for test (DFT) on existing product line and new product introductions (NPI)
- Support existing product lines at contract manufacturers (CMs) and continuous improvement projects to reduce line downtime and functional test time, increase productivity and drive improvement culture with CMs
- Support process qualifications and capability studies (custom test fixture validation, Gage R&R, DOEs, FMEA’s, etc)
What you will have:
- Experience in Python/Linux-based industrial systems is nice to have
- Familiar with custom testing fixtures and/or selection of off the shelf solutions based on engineering, quality, & manufacturing requirements
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving electromechanical issues on a production assembly and test line
- Great interpersonal communication skills, able to support supplier and contract manufacturer resources on site to drive towards test success
- Ability to read electrical schematics, create and understand CAD 2D/3D
- Experience working in an electromechanical manufacturing environment to create test plans and procedures for complex assemblies and/or system level end of line testing
- Experience with source control systems (e.g. Git)
- 0-2 years in product-based electromechanical assemblies in a hands-on, fast paced, engineering and manufacturing environment
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science. Consideration may be given to significant equivalent experience
- Willingness to travel in region, with 15% domestic/international travel
Salary Range
The pay range for this role is expected to be between $69,178 - $81,386. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other components may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
