Group Product Manager, Fraud
Marqeta is hiring for a Group Product Manager – Fraud role to join the Risk, Fraud and Disputes Team. As a Senior Product Leader, you will own the entire Real Time Decisioning product suite and 3D Secure authentication solutions. You will be in charge of challenging the status quo and creating a revolutionary suite of fraud management and authentication products at Marqeta. You will strike the right balance between stopping fraud, enhancing security, and protecting legitimate transactions — all while minimizing customer friction. You will be an experienced AI leader with a deep understanding of AI, fraud product development, and modern authentication protocols. You will partner with a diverse set of teams including engineering, data scientists, risk operations, legal, GTM and marketing.
We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely in the United States, only in one of our Premium or National locations, which you can review here.
The Impact You’ll Have
- Define and execute a clear, actionable strategy that aligns with the company's overall growth objectives
- Lead and inspire others with a compelling product vision and roadmap, driving alignment and seeking consensus among leadership, peers, and teams
- Deeply understand fraud, risk, and authentication ecosystems to identify the impact of initiatives or features across the platform. This includes understanding the competitive landscape, AI-based fraud tools, rules-based fraud engines, EMV 3DS specifications, issuer and merchant requirements, and strong customer authentication (SCA) requirements — particularly for regulatory compliance like PSD2 in Europe
- Develop AI-powered products and frictionless authentication solutions that directly address customer pain points, balance security with user experience, and drive business outcomes. Work cross-functionally to ensure optimal implementation and customer success
- Own the complete P&L for your suite of products and drive the adoption and optimization of Real Time Decisioning and 3D Secure solutions — balancing fraud prevention, authentication approval rates, customer experience metrics, regulatory compliance, and financial outcomes
- Collaborate across customer-facing and technical teams to collect inputs for prioritization of features, including value, effort, usability, and priority
- Create well-defined Product Requirement Documents focusing on customer and business value and defining metrics to quantify success
- Act as technical advisor to educate and evangelize features with customers via meetings, presentations, and other forums
- Collaborate with go-to-market partners to develop product collateral, presentations, trainings, and other tools to bring products to customers and prospects
- Leverage hands-on AI and prototyping skills to rapidly validate product concepts, build proof-of-concept models, and accelerate the path from idea to production
- Stay current on the latest AI/ML research, foundation models, and tooling — and proactively identify opportunities to embed AI capabilities across the Risk Decisioning and 3D Secure product suites
Who You Are
- 10+ years in product management roles designing and delivering fraud, risk, and/or authentication solutions that have delighted customers and driven business growth
- Proven track record of setting vision and strategy for a portfolio of products and translating it into a roadmap with rigorous end-to-end execution
- Experience recruiting and growing top talent and building high-performing teams, with strong EQ and leadership skills
- Passion for AI, demonstrated through hands-on building, prototyping, or side projects, and a habit of staying current on the latest research, models, and tools
- Fluency with modern prototyping tools (e.g., Cursor, Replit, Claude Code) and the ability to use them to rapidly explore and validate product ideas
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulation of customer problems for both technical and business audiences
- "Roll up your sleeves" mentality to make your products and team successful, seeking root causes, assigning ownership, and driving accountability to get things done
Nice-To-Haves
- Strong understanding of the payment industry ecosystem: card brand regulations, ISO 8583, EMV, and digital wallets
- Deep knowledge of 3D Secure protocols (especially EMV 3DS 2.x), card network authentication programs, and regulatory requirements like PSD2's Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) mandates
- Knowledge of biometric authentication methods, tokenization, and modern identity verification techniques
- Experience applying machine learning or AI models in production fraud or authentication systems
