Midwest Applied Solutions is looking for a BAS Controls Systems Service Technician to help customers keep their building automation systems running well. You’ll work with a team to startup, commission, troubleshoot, repair and improve systems at existing customer sites, retrofit projects and new construction sites.

Experience building automation systems is helpful, but you do not need to know every system or have every certification to apply. We are willing to teach and train someone who is dependable, curious, committed to quality work, and motivated to master the trade. As your skills grow, you’ll take on more complex work and greater independence.

What You’ll Do

  • Build positive relationships with customers and communicate clearly about your work.
  • Help diagnose system issues and make repairs, adjustments, or component replacements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and check that systems operate as intended.
  • Assist with system checkout, startup, commissioning, and upgrades.
  • Learn to create and modify BAS graphics and programming, including Niagara.
  • Identify opportunities to improve building operations and energy efficiency.
  • Work with teammates, share what you learn, and ask questions when you need support.
  • Document work and follow through on customer needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong commitment to learning, solving problems, and doing quality work.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and care for customers and teammates.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort using computers and learning new software and systems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and work safely in the field.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or an on-call schedule as needed. Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.

Experience That Would Be Helpful

The following experience is preferred, but we encourage you to apply even if you do not have all of it:

  • HVAC, electrical, mechanical, controls, or building automation experience.
  • Familiarity with Niagara N4, Honeywell WEBs, or other control systems.
  • Knowledge of BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, or IP networks.
  • Ability to read plans, submittal drawings, or wiring diagrams.
  • Trade school training, military technical training, or relevant certifications.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role involves working at multiple customer sites, sometimes on the same day. The work may require standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.

This job description is not intended to include every duty. Responsibilities may change based on the needs of the organization.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
