Senior Language Strategist
Overview
maslansky + partners is a Language Strategy® and research consultancy that helps the world’s most influential and innovative organizations harness the power of language and craft communication strategies to drive behavior change. Our work is guided by a simple, powerful idea: it’s not what you SAY that matters, it’s what your audience HEARS.
Clients look to us as experts in the art and science of persuasion. To help products stand out in a crowded space. To shape company reputations. To win on issues that matter. To respond effectively to crisis. To engage employees. Every word you use is a choice. We help companies choose wisely.
Do you have a passion for persuasion, puzzles, and what makes people tick? Do you love helping clients solve high-stakes challenges? We’re looking for people with exemplary critical thinking skills, deep empathy, a natural curiosity, and a gift for effectively articulating ideas to join our growing team.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Build expertise. Become experts in the client’s challenge and industry.
- Uncover insights. Turn data from client interviews, qualitative and quantitative research, and data analytics into meaningful insights into how to help our clients achieve their business objectives.
- Develop persuasive messages. Brainstorm different ways to frame messaging and then write persuasive messages for testing.
- Create compelling narratives. Turn research insights into communication strategy recommendations and build compelling deliverables that resonate with clients.
- Mentor and manage. Mentor junior team members and manage team stakeholders to ensure effective project execution – and be mentored yourself.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
- Experience with strategic communication challenges. The right experience can come from a lot of places, but it’s likely to come from four to six years of work as an agency strategic planner, brand marketer, corporate communicator, political campaign strategist, pollster, market researcher, linguist, or behavioral scientist. You’ve learned a lot along the way and can apply insights and perspectives to new challenges.
- Strong critical thinking and persuasive communication skills. You understand how to analyze problems, synthesize information into meaningful insights, and turn insights into strategies, narratives, and arguments that are clear, concise, and compelling.
- A passion for personal and business growth. You are intellectually curious and deeply empathetic. Confident yet coachable – and eager to both give and receive constructive feedback. Ambitious and highly collaborative. Eager to do your best, wow clients, and earn the next piece of business. We are looking for a rare blend of qualities that will help ensure that you fit in – and help us stand out.
- Experience with polling and market research. If you have experience conducting market research, that’s great. But experience working WITH polling and other types of market research – as a client, agency, or otherwise – is a must.
- Enthusiasm and passion for the work. You are a dedicated team player passionate about delivering great work. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, adapting to changing client needs, and delivering under tight deadlines. While night and weekend work are not the norm, strategists must be open to working outside of traditional business hours and embracing time-sensitive tasks with little advance notice.
Four reasons to join the maslansky + partners team:
- You won’t be bored. You will work with diverse clients and industries on diverse challenges that allow you to learn every step of the way.
- You will be challenged and grow. We’ll make you a stronger strategic thinker, a better writer, and a more confident presenter, as part of a culture focused on feedback and a commitment to personal growth. If you’re good, your contribution will be recognized and rewarded.
- You can make a big impact. Our team is encouraged to use our passion and expertise to support causes that matter. Through work with PENCIL, Head Start, SBP, and our Project Good Words program, we’ve helped improve access to education, career opportunities, disaster relief, and clean water…to name a few.
- You’ll definitely have a good time. We do serious work but never take ourselves too seriously. Lots of work and lots of fun to help you stay energized and engaged.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 – $95,000. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
