ROLE OVERVIEW
Data Engineer | Vienna, Austria
Collaborating with the investment team and data scientists, your role involves creating software solutions to help extract data insights effectively. You'll handle the entire data flow, from acquisition to transformation into actionable insights using SQL and Python. Additionally, your responsibilities include data storage management and designing accessible interfaces like APIs. The ideal candidate is a passionate Data Engineer with experience in developing solutions for intricate data processing challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and implement scalable ETL solutions (structured and unstructured; batch and streaming)
- Building data pipelines, standardizing, and cleansing data for the investment team
- Define and set best practice standards surrounding data (i.e., data modeling, database design, ETL design, job scheduling and monitoring, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required; Master’s or PhD degree would be ideal
- Proficiency in Relational database engineering and NoSQL database engineering is required
- Proficiency in AWS services; Preferably AWS certified
- Experience with any of the following systems/tools is a plus: Apache Airflow, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes
- Knowledge of developing highly scalable distributed systems using open source technologies, such as Spark, Dask, or Hadoop is a plus
- Strong general programming background with experience coding in Python and/or Java
- Familiarity with the mechanics of securities markets and exchanges is a plus but not required
- Be able to succinctly present recommendations at an executive level
- Strong analytic and strategic thinking skills
COMPENSATION
The all-inclusive salary for this position STARTS at EUR 75.000,00. Competitive and performance-based compensation package, depending upon qualifications.
