THE WORK AT THE FOUNDATION
We are currently in an exciting period at the Mastercard Foundation as we intensify the implementation of the Young Africa Works strategy, aiming to empower 30 million young people throughout Africa to access dignified and fulfilling employment.
To ensure the Foundation's accessibility to our partners and program participants, we have established offices in Rwanda, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Uganda. These offices provide strong in-country support for the implementation of Young Africa Works. We collaborate with governments, the private sector, educators, and other funders to enhance the quality of education and vocational training, equip young individuals with the necessary skills for the workforce, expand access to financial services for entrepreneurs and small businesses, and facilitate connections between job seekers and meaningful employment opportunities.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Lead, People Services, the Consultant will be the first point of contact for employee inquiries, ensuring a high level of service and support across various Human Resources (HR) functions. You will assist in streamlining HR processes, maintain accurate employee records, and facilitate effective communication between employees and People & Culture.
The successful candidate will be based in South Africa or in any of our offices in (Canada, Uganda, Senegal, Rwanda, Ethiopia, or Ghana).
WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE
- Act as a first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and other HR services.
- Maintain and update employee records in the HR Information System (HRIS) with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Manage and streamline HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, performance, and employee data management.
- Support compliance with labour laws and organizational policies by maintaining up-to-date knowledge and documentation.
- Work closely with HR colleagues to provide a seamless service experience and address issues.
- Identify areas for process enhancement and contribute to developing efficient workflows within the shared service centre.
- Assist in HR projects and initiatives as required, contributing to overall organizational goals.
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, preferably within an HR shared service environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible, adaptable with proven ability to work with stakeholders across multiple countries and cultures.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Office 365, and SharePoint).
- Possess professional maturity, sensitivity to different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplify the Foundation’s values.
- Demonstrate a commitment to Mastercard Foundation’s values and vision.
