Head of Commercial
Job Summary:
Material Evolution is at a pivotal stage in its journey, poised for transformative growth and innovation. We are seeking an experienced Head of Commercial to lead our commercial strategy and guide us through this exciting phase.
At Material Evolution, we believe that forging strategic partnerships is essential to tackling the climate crisis. The Head of Commercial will be instrumental in establishing and nurturing these relationships, driving our commercial strategy, identifying and securing new business opportunities, and overseeing the commercialisation of our innovative materials.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the materials sector, with a particular focus on cement. Strong leadership skills coupled with a proven track record of scaling businesses by leveraging industry relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Identify and prioritise market opportunities for new and existing products.
- Lead the pricing strategy to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across different industries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and suppliers.
- Negotiate and close high-value deals that align with the company's growth strategy.
Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and grow the commercial team to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to track performance and adjust strategies as necessary.
- Drive the development of sales tools, processes, and methodologies to enhance sales effectiveness.
Market Analysis & Product Positioning:
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, threats, and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the product development team to ensure products meet market needs and are positioned effectively.
- Develop go-to-market strategies for new product launches.
Partnership & Collaboration:
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships that enhance the company’s market presence and product offering.
- Collaborate closely with the R&D, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure alignment across all commercial activities.
Background & Experience:
- Previous experience in a senior commercial role within the materials sector or a related industry.
- Proven track record in driving commercial performance and operational efficiencies in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Experience in building and scaling commercial teams, including managing contractors and vendors, with a focus on aligning technical capabilities to business needs.
- Expertise in structuring and negotiating multi-year contracts.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, building and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and lead a high-performing team.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and the ability to execute.
- Deep understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape in the materials or related industries.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
