Community Center Coordinator
We are seeking a Community Center Coordinator to facilitate participant engagement within the Arbor Row Center, located at The Mather in Tysons. The Community Center Coordinator contributes to Mather by extending our commitments to wellness, creative engagement and lifelong learning to older adults in the region surrounding the Mather in Tysons. Key areas of responsibility include providing a nextraordinary greeting and registration experience to participants, assisting in facilitation of community center calendar, supporting meaningful community center participant engagement with diverse program formats, and adherence to access and safety standards. The successful candidate will be able to provide both exceptional customer service at reception and facilitate meaningful programming for Community Center participants.
This position is full-time, and based out of the Arbor Row Center at The Mather in Tysons Corner. Weekend and holiday availability as needed required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides Community Center participants with nextraordinary greeting, registration, engagement, and resources.
- Supports participant engagement with diverse programming designed to support the Person-Centric Wellness Model, emphasizing realms of Wellness, Creative Engagement, and Lifelong Learning.
- Supports participant engagement by lending interests, talents, and group facilitation skills to programming design and facilitation.
- Stays well informed about all Community Center, Mather, and FCNCS programs and services as a vital connection between these programs and center participants to build engagement.
- Answers phones and emails courteously, transfers calls accurately, records messages and shares all necessary communication punctually.
- Completes opening and closing procedures, safety protocols, welcome and registration experience, participant transportation/parking needs, event set-up and clean-up, coordination of community center supplies, etc.
- Maintains accurate and prompt attendance records and follows designated documentation processes.
- Supports creation of Arbor Row Center calendar; creates signage, promotional materials, and participant communications as assigned.
- Coordinates purchase, storage, and use of Arbor Row Center supplies as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Positive, engaging, and collaborative attitude, strong listening skills, public speaking, and strong 1:1 and group facilitation skills.
- Strong time management and organization skills.
- Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms
- Excellent customer service
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Able to work independently and use good judgment in decision-making. Able to handle multiple tasks and requests in a calm and friendly manner.
