The Mather Tysons is seeking a Chef de Cuisine to take the helm of our culinary operations and deliver exceptional, from-scratch cuisine across multiple dining venues. As the Chef de Cuisine, you’ll be the senior-most kitchen leader, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. In their absence, you’ll take full ownership of the kitchen, leading day-to-day operations with creativity, precision, and a commitment to excellence. You’ll oversee the planning, preparation, and presentation of high-quality, made-from-scratch meals for our diverse dining experiences—including our signature restaurants, CUISINE2GO, and catering services. We are seeking a leader with hands-on leadership experience, with the ability to lead and develop others (Passion for hospitality, innovation, and delivering memorable dining experiences).   Your leadership will ensure an outstanding culinary experience for residents, guests, team members, and visitors.

This a full-time salaried position. Availability on weeknights, weekends, and holidays is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Provide hands-on leadership during shifts, guiding a skilled culinary team in daily kitchen operations
  • Mentor and train team members using HACCP, IDDSI, and LobsterInk standards to ensure food safety and career growth
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop seasonal, scratch-made menus for restaurants, catering, and special events
  • Lead production planning, hot/cold line execution, and a la minute service with a focus on quality and presentation
  • Oversee sanitation compliance, temperature logs, and cleanliness in partnership with Ecolab
  • Support resident engagement through cooking demos, and interactive culinary events
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and recipe costing using Eatec and InfoGenesis systems
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, budget goals, and culinary standards

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of recipe ingredients, allergens, and dietary restrictions.
  • Able to multi-task in fast-paced environment and make independent decisions as needed.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities with 5-7 years progressive supervisory responsibility in luxury food production environment.
  • Able to establish and maintain professional and positive relationships between production and service staff.
  • Effective verbal communication skills: ability to read and interpret work related documents, including the ability to document and follow recipes.
  • Able to operate and train team members on all job-related kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Current sanitation certification and any other Mather, federal, state and local required certifications.
  • Experience in fine dining environments with demonstrated expertise in Asian cuisine preparation, presentation and menu development.

Preferred:

  • Culinary arts degree or equivalent industry certification: ProChef 2 or ACF Certified Chef de Cuisine.
  • Advanced knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Computer skills and experience with electronic purchasing, recipe database, point of sale, and nutritional analysis software.
