The Mather (Tysons, VA)

At The Mather, we are seeking a highly service‑oriented, hands‑on resident IT support professional who enjoys working directly with people and making technology accessible, welcoming, and easy to use. This is a full‑time, hourly, 100% in‑person position that requires flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed within a luxury senior living environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical aptitude, clear communication skills, and a genuine enjoyment of engaging with residents daily. In this role, you will lead resident technology onboarding, deliver both in‑person and Zoom‑based training, and provide direct support across email, smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops, iOS and Android devices, smart home solutions, and IoT technologies. You will also support resident systems and community technology by assisting with resident portals, mobile applications, IPTV systems, audiovisual equipment, videoconferencing tools, and digital signage; coordinating vendor installations and maintenance; managing AV reservation requests; and helping residents troubleshoot multimedia and presentation equipment. This role is deeply collaborative, highly visible, and essential to creating a positive, connected, and engaging resident experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Customer Service

  • Communicate effectively with all residents and employees using appropriate technical language for the audience through oral/written communication.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with residents and coworkers to help work through resident technology needs with patience and understanding.
  • Commit to service work, fostering an enjoyment of learning with and from each other, and sharing the knowledge gracefully.

AV Support

  • Communicate effectively with all residents and team members through oral/written communication/
  • Establish and maintain relationships with residents and coworkers to help work through their technology needs with patience and understanding.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AV equipment and supervise contract-based installations.
  • Assist with coordinating vendor maintenance and installation.
  • Set up, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot teleconferencing equipment, multimedia devices, televisions, monitors, projectors, recording equipment, speaker sets, digital cameras/camcorders, and other presentation equipment.
  • Respond to incoming calls, helpdesk tickets or emails regarding AV software/hardware problems.
  •  Document instances of AV equipment failure, repair, installation, and removal.
  • Handle incoming booking requests for AV equipment and setup.

Resident:

  • Evaluate and communicate with residents using technical language suitable to their needs.
  • Provide basic resident technology support of personal applications, Wi‑Fi, email, smartphones, desktops, laptops, tablets, iOS devices, Android devices, printers, smart home, and resident portal.
  • Host basic resident technology training classes.

IT Support:

  • Provide first-contact onsite support to ensure courteous, timely, and effective first-level resolution of end-user issues.
  • Perform hands-on desktop fixes, installs, and upgrades.
  • Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) requests.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and remote support when needed.
  •  Deliver software application training programs.
  • Create and communicate training schedules in consultation with departmental decision makers.
  • Assist vendors with onsite support requests.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

Required:

  • BA degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software.
  • Basic knowledge of servers (maintenance and organization).
  • 1 year of technical IT experience.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
