Assistant Restaurant Manager
At The Mather Tysons—an award-winning, innovative luxury senior living community, the Assistant Restaurant Manager plays a key role in creating an exceptional dining experience within our high-touch, service-driven environment. In partnership with the Restaurant Manager, you’ll deliver seamless service, lead and develop a talented team, and ensure every resident and guest interaction reflects warmth, respect, and exceptional quality.
The Assistant Restaurant Manager is responsible for assisting in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurants. Their duties include training restaurant staff following company policies, speaking with residents and guests to address concerns or solve problems. A successful candidate will have a welcoming personality, the ability to problem solve and multitask. This position reports directly to the Restaurant Manager.
This is a full-time, on-site position. Weekend, weeknight, and holiday availability required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborates with Restaurant Manager in the timely selection, orientation, scheduling and on-going training and performance management of restaurant team members.
- Manages reservation system, assigns server sections at all meal periods that require reservations.
- Ensures the even flow of guests into the restaurant, to provide a positive resident and guest experience and a quality food product.
- Supervises the flow of service to ensure that residents, guests, family members, and staff receive quality dining service.
- Inspects workstations for completion of assigned side work.
- Responds to resident feedback addressing concerns in a timely, professional manner.
- Maintains timely and professional communication with the Restaurant Manager, Director of Restaurants and the Executive Chef and shares all food comments and suggestions with the Executive Chef.
- Works with restaurant management to help ensure budgetary compliance.
- Responsible, along with the other members of the restaurant supervisory team, to manage and maintain the equipment necessary to successfully operate the restaurants at or above Mather service standards.
- Coordinates and executes theme meals and/or functions and related billing processes and provides accurate and timely information to the Restaurant Manager so that billing for events/functions can occur and resident satisfaction is ensured.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Progressive experience in an upscale restaurant and/or Life Plan community
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and make independent decisions
- Proficient in Windows applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Knowledgeable in Point-of-Sale systems
- Knowledgeable in job related federal, state, and local regulations to ensure safe and clean dining environment
- Certification in food safety/sanitation and BASSET
- English language proficiency
Preferred:
- College degree in culinary or hospitality management
- Knowledgeable in Online ordering, Online Reservations
