Architect
MatX designs hardware tailored for the world’s best AI models. Our hardware will make a given level of intelligence available 3-5 years sooner. We are developing vertically integrated full-stack solutions from silicon to systems including hardware and software to train and run the world’s largest models. MatX is seeking an Architect to join our team as we create best-in-class silicon for high-performance and sustainable GenAI. The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for delivering performant silicon architecture at the full-chip or subsystem level.
Responsibilities include:
- Since most of the architecture for the first version of the product is now complete, your near-term work will be primarily focused on shipping that product. It could be filling in architectural details, kernel writing, compiler writing, logic design, verification, or system-software development.
- Deeply understand the workload and other customer needs. Translate these into hardware requirements and goals.
- Produce architecture specifications, pseudo code, working code, and other collateral describing key functions within the MatX system
- Work closely with micro-architects, designers, physical designers, verification engineers and others during definition and execution phase of the chip projects to ensure that the above architecture descriptions are capable of being implemented in silicon
- Work closely with software and system architects to create a working-backwards silicon architecture that is optimized for software and system-level considerations
- Work on performance analysis of your architecture using various tools such as software models, design simulations, emulation and prototyping
- Contribute to developing test plans for pre- and post-silicon verification and validation effort
Requirements:
- Concept-to-silicon ownership in driving silicon architecture for key features at a subsystems and/or chip-level from an architecture specification to production silicon
- Comfort with some of: SystemVerilog, Python, C/C++, Rust, or Bluespec and similar scripting and programming languages for chip architecture and silicon design
- Successful delivery of executable specifications as models to describe hardware architecture
- Track record of delivering innovative features and techniques in chips and systems related to ML, compute, networking, storage and related areas in shipping products
- Experience with debugging architectural issues at silicon and system level with partner teams across: design, validation, system engineering, software and field support
- Experience in writing firmware and software code to test architectural features at product level is a big plus
Compensation: The US base salary for this full-time position is $120,000 - $400,000 + equity + benefits
