DevOps/IT Specialist

We are looking for someone to work collaboratively with our engineering and operations teams to ensure that our IT infrastructure is optimized, secure and set up for scale. 

We are seeking an energetic IT specialist who has experience and interest that spans across IT infrastructure-related responsibilities and disciplines. This IT Specialist will be based in our headquarters office so that they can provide real-time resolution to IT issues or requests as they arise and participate in conversations that require IT-consideration and planning. This specialist will also liaise and collaborate with our SecOps team member located overseas and other engineers based locally to execute more complex efforts and initiatives. 

We expect this role to evolve in scope and responsibility as the team and company continues to grow. The ideal candidate should be flexible and interested in an opportunity that will provide new challenges as time in the role progresses.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deploy scalable and reliable cloud architectures using Google and potentially other cloud services
  • Manage cloud infrastructure, provision, configure, and maintain GCP and other cloud resources, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and databases, to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud performance, implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions to track the health and performance of cloud resources and applications.
  • Ensure security and compliance by designing, configuring and enforcing security policies, manage IAM roles and permissions, and implement best practices for systems and data protection and compliance with security standards and regulations.
  • Automate operations by developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using various tools to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, applications, and services.
  • Work closely with developers to integrate cloud services with their tools and applications, ensuring that infrastructure meets the performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
  • Design and implement business continuity strategy and disaster recovery plans to ensure systems and data integrity and availability in case of unexpected failures or incidents.
  • Optimize cost management by monitoring and analyzing cloud usage and expenditures, recommending and implementing cost-saving measures and strategies.
  • Monitor and optimize performance of conferencing technology in office meeting rooms to ensure that all participants, onsite and off, are able to effectively participate in virtual conversations.
  • Address any real-time IT or hardware related issues to ensure timely resolution or escalation to reduce the impact on team productivity
  • Collaborate with Operations to onboard and offboard employees, contractors and interns effectively and efficiently.
  • Coordinate responses to client requests related to IT and Security.

Preferred background:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information science, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience with relevant certifications will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an IT-related role is required. Relevant certifications are highly valued.
  • Strong written and verbal skills along with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to research ambiguous problems and determine a best course of action for a quick and accurate resolution of issues or requests
  • Proficient in using a programming language (e.g., Bash, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.) for interacting with REST APIs, managing JSON files, and executing administrative tasks.
  • Hands-on proficiency with networking & security concepts
  • Experience and success in the following areas: Risk Management, Auditing/Compliance, Configuration Management, Employee Education and Vulnerability Management.
