US Tax Manager

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced US tax professional to join our Tax team. In this role, you’ll partner closely with our global tax colleagues and collaborate with teams across the business. This opportunity is well-suited to someone who is proactive, driven, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

This role will be based in our Chicago office with a hybrid working pattern available.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary tax point of contact for US operations (principally market-making and fund operations).
  • Prepare U.S. federal and state/local tax filings (Forms 1065, 1120, 1042, 1099, 5472), with additional support on international/non-U.S. tax filings.
  • Prepare U.S. federal and state/local tax estimates quarterly tax installments.
  • Review and document transfer pricing to ensure compliance with US and global rules.
  • Partner with a cross-functional team across the organization to integrate a tax perspective into key business decisions.
  • Work with the wider tax team and external advisors to provide comprehensive tax support and coordinated tax advice
  • Support the completion and submission of withholding tax forms (e.g., W-8BEN-E, treaty forms) and U.S./international withholding tax regimes, including FATCA, and CRS.
  • Working with the Head of Indirect Taxes to prepare indirect tax forms (e.g. Sales and Use, Commercial Rent Tax)
  • Liaise with internal teams and external counterparties to ensure proper documentation and withholding positions across jurisdictions.
  • Research and engage with external tax advisors on U.S. and international tax technical matters.
  • Monitor, track, and assess developments in U.S. and international tax regulations.
  • Contribute to internal tax policies, controls, process automation, and documentation.

 

 Essential Attributes:

  • 7+ years of U.S. tax experience in Big 4 or equivalent, with a financial services focus (e.g., proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, PE, or VC) or a similar role in a financial services firm.
  • U.S. CPA or MST preferred.
  • Highly organized.
  • Experience with international tax matters in a tax advisory capacity is a plus.
  • Strong research and writing skills, including comfort with the tax code, regulations and authoritative guidance.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
