Job Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and meticulous Datacenter Engineer to join our global datacenter team. This role will contribute to the smooth operation of all company sites, with primary responsibility for performing hands-on work at our New Jersey datacenter locations. As part of the global team, you will help deliver reliable, efficient, and well-maintained datacenter environments, working closely with fellow team members to plan, execute, and support all datacenter-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal IT Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for internal IT infrastructure teams for all datacenter-related activities.
  • Hardware Installation and Cabling: Install servers and network hardware, ensuring all cabling is organized, neat, and orderly, following Maven specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and Vendor Coordination: Troubleshoot hardware problems, engage hardware vendors as necessary, and take ownership of resolving hardware issues from identification to resolution.
  • External Coordination: Liaise with external remote hands as necessary to ensure efficient operation and maintenance.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure our Netbox inventory system accurately reflects datacenter device information and location.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Monitor and ensure optimal environmental conditions within our datacenter space.
  • Capacity Management: Manage datacenter capacity, optimizing for power utilization and space efficiency.
  • Procurement: Procure datacenter equipment on behalf of internal teams, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Meticulousness: Must possess a strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Organizational Skills: A strong desire to keep things orderly and well-organized.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with datacenter infrastructure, including networking, cabling, and hardware.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve L1 issues efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with internal and external teams.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing technologies and environments.

Additional Attributes:

  • Experience with inventory management systems, particularly Netbox or similar tool.
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools and practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with major financial-trading colocation facilities in New Jersey, including Equinix (Secaucus), ICE (Mahwah), and Nasdaq (Carteret).

Work Conditions:

  • Availability for weekend and after-hours work is required to ensure trading operations are not disrupted during normal business hours.
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 35 lbs as part of regular duties.
