Amsterdam Trader Summer Internship 2027

Amsterdam

Maven Securities is a leading proprietary trading firm that uses sophisticated technology and quantitative analysis to trade global financial markets. We specialise in options and derivatives market making, where your skills can have a real impact.

At Maven, we believe exceptional careers are built deliberately. Our summer internship is designed for a small number of high-potential students each year, combining structured training with practical exposure. We don’t hire large classes expecting only a few to succeed; we invest in every individual who joins the programme.

Programme details

  • Location: Amsterdam
  • Programme dates: 21st June – 20th August 2027
  • Application deadline: Tuesday 20th October 2026

Join a structured nine-week internship, giving you a practical introduction to options market making. The programme starts in our London office, with three weeks of interactive options theory classes led by one of our traders. You’ll then return to Amsterdam, quickly progressing into trading simulation and mock trading, helping you build the foundations you need to become a trader. You’ll also gain exposure to different desks through shadowing and project work.

Throughout the internship, you’ll be assessed on your performance and development. Successful interns may be considered for our Graduate Trader Programme the following year.

What you will be doing

  • Build practical trading skills in our simulation environment, applying your learning to real market scenarios
  • Use the same tools as our traders - or build your own - and observe the same trades being executed in the live market
  • Learn directly from traders across different desks through shadowing and regular interaction, with opportunities to ask questions and understand their day-to-day approach
  • Take part in a dedicated Reading Week, working independently on a project and exploring an area of interest

How and what you will learn

  • Build your foundations in options market making - we don’t expect prior knowledge
  • Develop your understanding of options theory, pricing, probability and risk with Maven’s in-house trainers
  • Apply your knowledge through trading simulation, testing different strategies, learning from experience and building confidence as a trader
  • Develop your understanding of the wider market through macroeconomics and technical training
  • Progress through clear learning milestones, with ongoing feedback from the Trading and Emerging Talent teams

  • A penultimate-year undergraduate or master’s student
  • Strong numeracy skills and a good understanding of probability and statistics

We’re looking for someone who is

  • An entrepreneurial thinker who takes the initiative to generate ideas that further your learning and improve existing tools or systems
  • A critical problem solver and decision-maker who analyses situations and makes effective decisions
  • An agile learner who quickly acquires knowledge, responds to feedback and adapts to new situations
  • Able to synthesise information and turn complex or conflicting inputs into clear, actionable insights and decisions
  • Collaborative and influential, able to build trust, share what you have learned and work effectively with others
  • Results-focused and accountable, comfortable taking ownership and making decisions in the face of uncertainty and with incomplete information

Why Maven?

  • Dedicated in-house trainers: Learn through a programme designed for the Summer Trader Internship and delivered by Maven’s traders and in-house experts, covering technical and professional skills, as well as how AI is integrated into our daily work

  • Proven pathways: Around a quarter of our workforce joined through an Emerging Talent Programme, including more than 50 of our current traders
  • Supported to succeed: Receive regular feedback, structured reviews and day-to-day support, including a Maven buddy
