Quality Engineer - Cryogenic Systems
Maybell Quantum is seeking a motivated Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team. Our ideal team member is a hands-on individual who has experience with manufacturing complex systems and is excited about being part of a fast-paced and collaborative startup. They are self-motivated with strong communication skills and can work well in teams and individually.
Responsibilities
- Lead quality assurance for complex scientific instrument assembly, including inspection of incoming components, assembly processes, and final product validation
- Develop and implement quality control procedures for cryogenic subsystems
- Conduct failure analysis investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for manufacturing failures
- Collaborate with external suppliers, engineering teams, and stakeholders to establish and maintain quality metrics for system performance and reliability
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the reliability of cryogenic systems and associated hardware
- Create and maintain specifications for cryogenic components and materials, ensuring compliance with system requirements
- Monitor and report on key quality metrics
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in quality engineering
- Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and cryogenic system design principles
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 10+ years industry experience in manufacturing quality control
- Familiarity with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and 8D reporting
- Hands-on experience with:
- Dilution refrigerators or pulse tube cryocoolers
- Vacuum systems and leak detection
- Cryogenic temperature measurement and control
- Materials selection for cryogenic applications
- Knowledge of quantum computing hardware requirements and constraints
Base salary: $100,000 - $150,000
