Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians in manufacturing operations while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical processes
  • Configure and optimize production lines for manufacturing of Maybell's dilution refrigerators using lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence tools
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes with focus on brazing, welding, and sintering operations
  • Establish and manage comprehensive leak checking protocols and quality control systems throughout production
  • Design and build custom manufacturing jigs and fixtures to improve production quality, consistency, and throughput
  • Collaborate with third-party welding vendors to optimize their processes and ensure quality standards are met
  • Lead the establishment of in-house welding capabilities, including equipment selection, process development, and operator training
  • Implement lean manufacturing methodologies and process optimization tools to maximize efficiency and minimize waste
  • Develop work instructions, production documentation, and standard operating procedures
  • Build and manage aggressive production schedules while maintaining quality standards
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven approaches and operational tools

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent field
  • 8+ years of work experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with brazing, welding, and/or sintering processes
  • 3+ years of management experience leading manufacturing teams
  • 3+ years of experience implementing lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence tools
  • Proven experience in process optimization and efficiency improvement initiatives
  • Strong background in leak checking methodologies and quality control systems
  • Experience designing and building manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and tooling
  • Self-starter who can thrive in ambiguity with ability to drive results independently and through team members
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Exceptional hands-on assembly and fabrication skills
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Strong CAD & mechanical design skills
  • Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong safety-oriented mindset

    • Base salary or hourly pay rate $115,000/yr - $155,000/yr
