Job Summary
May Mobility is seeking a Field Autonomy Engineer to facilitate the deployment of autonomous vehicles to diverse locations and generating valuable insights to improve autonomous vehicle performance .
The Field Autonomy Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and releasing mapping artifacts as well as developing subject matter expertise on May Mobility’s product Operational Design Domain (ODD).
Essential Responsibilities
- Inspect mapping artifact quality and compatibility with approved software
- Improve May’s processes and tools for deploying autonomous vehicles
- Collaborate with Autonomy, Product Management, and other engineering functions to develop features across May Mobility’s product portfolio
- Build tools and features to support and improve Field Engineering workflows
- Represent the company professionally and confidently at public events, engaging with clients, media and other stakeholders
- Travel to May Mobility sites to provide hands-on support to technical issues and processes, as well as expert diagnosis, triage, and prioritization of autonomy behaviors
- Coordinate and develop the on-site configuration and deployment of autonomous technology in new locations
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related degree
- Familiarity with principles of mobile robotics
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and clearly about complex system behaviors, structures, and issues
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing or editing software
- Comfortable implementing python scripts to automate repetitive tasks
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience operating in a Linux environment, including familiarity with common Linux command line utilities or other comparable CLI familiarity
- Ability to operate and drive May Mobility vehicles
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to undergo a driving record check
Desirable
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Prior experience with mobile robotics and/or autonomous vehicles
- Experience designing software in C, Python, and/or Bash environments
- Experience handling and creating insights from large data sets
- Experience managing software (branches / versions / deployments)
Physical Requirements
- Standard office working conditions which includes but is not limited to:
- Prolonged sitting
- Prolonged computer use

Salary Range
$80,000 - $114,000 USD
