Position Overview
McAdams is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager with expertise in Water Resources to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects and support the continued growth of our Central Florida practice. This is a high-impact role for a leader who blends technical excellence, project delivery, and business development—driving results for premier clients while helping scale McAdams’ expanding Water Resources market presence.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead growth of the Water Resources practice in Central Florida by leveraging market insight, client relationships, and pursuit strategies to secure new work and expand McAdams’ market presence.
- Drive business development activities including client positioning, proposal development, interviews, and contract negotiations, with accountability for pursuit strategy and outcomes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding their business initiatives and challenges to identify new opportunities, expand existing relationships, and cross-sell firm services.
- Develop and negotiate scopes, fees, schedules, and contracts that appropriately define project requirements while ensuring profitability, risk management, and delivery viability.
- Provide leadership and accountability for project execution, ensuring successful delivery that meets or exceeds client, stakeholder, and regulatory and permitting requirements in alignment with McAdams’ standards.
- Oversee project financial performance and resource planning, managing budgets, staffing, schedules, and workload to achieve project and business objectives.
- Lead technical direction and quality control for water resources projects, including review of analyses, designs, reports, and deliverables to ensure technical excellence.
- Mentor, develop, and inspire team members, fostering an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and high-performing culture aligned with firm growth goals.
Skills + Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Water Resources and municipal consulting, preferably within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry
- Proven ability to lead small to large, complex projects through planning, design, and delivery—independently and within multidisciplinary team environments
- Strong understanding of project financial performance, including budgets, profitability, revenue forecasting, and schedule impacts
- Experience managing teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions while meeting client expectations and business objectives
- Demonstrated success in developing, managing, and expanding key client relationships within the public sector
- Experience supporting or leading pursuit strategies, proposal development, and client interviews to win new work
- Established relationships with municipalities, public agencies, and/or regulatory entities in Central Florida, with the ability to leverage those relationships to grow market presence
- Strong interest in and commitment to advancing and growing the Water Resources practice in Central Florida
- Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Self-driven, well-organized, and team-oriented leader who mentors others and fosters collaboration across disciplines
Work Environment + Physical Demands

- Work will primarily be in an office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions, however when conducting field work, exposure to outside environmental conditions should be expected.
- Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
- Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. When working in the field, the need to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 or higher pounds may occur.
- Field based work will involve long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards encountered while maneuvering through project sites.
- Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
- Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
