Position Overview

The Director of Talent Acquisition is responsible for leading McAdams' talent acquisition strategy and recruitment function, ensuring the organization attracts, engages, and hires the talent needed to achieve its strategic growth objectives. This leadership role oversees the talent acquisition team and partners closely with business leaders, human resources, and corporate services teams to develop innovative and effective recruiting strategies.

The Director of Talent Acquisition serves as a trusted advisor to hiring leaders, providing guidance on talent market conditions, recruiting trends, and hiring best practices. This role is responsible for strengthening McAdams' brand, enhancing candidate experience, developing talent pipelines, and driving continuous improvement across all talent acquisition programs and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition Strategy

  • Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies that support McAdams' business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Partner with business leaders and human resources to anticipate hiring needs and align recruiting efforts with organizational priorities.
  • Identify recruitment challenges and opportunities and implement innovative solutions to attract top talent.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders on talent market trends, recruiting strategies, and competitive hiring practices.
  • Develop proactive talent pipeline strategies for critical and hard-to-fill positions across the organization.

Talent Acquisition Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Talent Acquisition team committed to delivering exceptional recruiting outcomes.
  • Establish team goals, performance expectations, and service standards that align with organizational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and professional development opportunities that strengthen recruiter capability and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate team performance and implement strategies to improve productivity, quality, and consistency.

Partnerships + Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders, hiring managers, and Human Resources team members to understand talent needs and recruiting priorities.
  • Consult with leaders on hiring strategies, interview processes, candidate evaluation, and talent acquisition best practices.
  • Support annual staffing discussions by providing recruiting insights, labor market intelligence, and talent availability data.
  • Influence hiring decisions through data-driven recommendations and market expertise.

Employer Brand + Talent Attraction

  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to strengthen McAdams' employer brand and position the organization as an employer of choice.
  • Develop and implement recruitment marketing strategies that increase awareness of career opportunities and company culture.
  • Promote McAdams through professional associations, industry events, social media, and other talent attraction channels.
  • Ensure the employee value proposition is effectively communicated throughout the candidate journey.

Strategic + Key Hire Recruiting

  • Provide leadership and support for strategic, key hire initiatives.
  • Develop recruitment approaches tailored to highly specialized, leadership, and difficult-to-fill positions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with passive candidates and industry professionals to strengthen talent pipelines.
  • Manage relationships with external search firms and recruiting partners as needed.

Operations + process Improvement

  • Oversee talent acquisition processes, systems, and programs to ensure efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Establish and monitor key talent acquisition metrics, including time-to-fill, source effectiveness, candidate experience, and offer acceptance rates.
  • Optimize applicant tracking system (ATS), reporting tools, and recruiting technologies to improve team effectiveness and candidate experience.
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements that reduce hiring cycle times and improve recruiting outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) requirements and all applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and present talent acquisition performance updates, insights, and recommendations to organizational leadership.
  • Leverage data to improve recruiting effectiveness and support business objectives.
  • Develop and implement best practices that enhance the overall candidate experience.

Skills + Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education/training and experience
  • 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including experience leading recruiting teams and talent acquisition programs
  • Proven success in developing and executing recruitment strategies within a growing, multi-office organization
  • Strong business partnership, consulting, and influencing skills
  • Experience managing recruiting technology, applicant tracking systems, and talent acquisition analytics
  • Demonstrated success building talent pipelines and recruiting for professional, technical, and leadership positions
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, EEO regulations, and recruitment compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry or related professional services organizations, preferred
  • Experience with Greenhouse ATS and ADP Workforce Now, preferred

Work Environment + Physical Demands

  • Work will primarily be in an office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Travel will be required with this role.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
