The Role

Are you a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant, looking to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative environment?

McCullough Robertson’s Digital and IP team is renowned for its strategic, commercial approach and commitment to delivering client-focused solutions. We work with a diverse client base, from innovative start-ups to publicly listed companies, providing expertise across Intellectual Property, including trade marks, designs, patents, and copyright, and Technology, Media & Telecommunications, encompassing AI, cybersecurity, data protection, privacy, and competition law.

Working in this role, you will provide essential administration support to the group’s Brisbane partner and their wider team. You will also play a valuable role in the team's trade marks practice, performing quasi-paralegal duties where required. 

Key duties will include:

  • Document preparation and management, including drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, contracts, and correspondence;
  • Scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements;
  • Billing and expense management including assisting with time entry, invoicing, and expense tracking;
  • Providing general office administration support; 
  • Trade mark administration duties, assisting with docketing management, trade mark searches, drafting search reports and design searches and registrations; and 
  • Working closely with your team, other legal assistants, and other staff members firm wide, to ensure smooth workflow and support.

This role is perfect for someone ready to take the next step in their career and eager to work beyond the scope of a traditional administrative position.

As the successful candidate, you will be an intermediate to senior legal assistant with a minimum of two years’ experience in a professional firm. You will display a genuine commitment to providing exceptional support to your team and go above and beyond to consistently deliver results. 

Furthermore, you will display the following key attributes:

  • A proactive mindset with the confidence to take initiative;
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Exceptional time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all work;
  • A self-motivated approach, capable of working independently and collaboratively;
  • A team-focused attitude, with the desire to build strong relationships across the firm and pitch in where required;
  • Strong technical proficiency and a solid understanding of relevant software applications;
  • Experience with trade mark administration will be advantageous, however not essential.
