We cultivate a work environment that nurtures personal and professional growth, and this is a thrilling time to become a part of our organization. With dynamic roles that offer meaningful impact, you'll be able to fully realize your potential. Plus, you'll enjoy world-class benefits and the security, stability, and resources of our parent company, Hearst, with over 100 years of experience.

MCG develops evidence-based guidelines that help patients get the right care across healthcare settings. Our Data Science team combines AI with the expertise of our clinical editors and guidelines to improve the efficiency and accuracy of documentation workflows. We bring deep experience applying natural language processing to clinical data and are expanding what reliable, explainable agentic workflows can do.

As Associate Director, Data Engineering, you will shape the data foundation behind MCG’s AI products. You will partner with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Data Scientists to build and operate the platform that moves data from ingestion to trusted datasets and actionable insights. Your work will help scientists improve our products, inform our AI roadmap, and give teams clearer ways to make data-informed decisions. This role spans platform engineering, data operations, analytics, and emerging agentic workflows, with room to shape how this capability grows.

You Will

  • Partner with Product Managers and customers to understand needs, translate them into requirements, and design end-to-end data and insights solutions for AI features.
  • Grow and maintain the data platform that supports MCG’s AI work, connecting data ingestion, transformation, governance, and delivery into dependable workflows.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, well-governed datasets that Data Scientists can use to build, evaluate, and continuously improve AI products.
  • Use MCG’s data to identify patterns, opportunities, and customer-relevant insights that can inform product decisions and the AI roadmap.
  • Create and maintain clear, dynamic dashboards that help partners across the business understand performance and make data-informed decisions.
  • Apply strong data operations and software engineering practices to improve the quality, reliability, repeatability, and usability of data pipelines and platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Data Science to clarify tradeoffs, surface data risks early, and deliver solutions that meet technical and business needs.

Our Tech Stack

  • Python, C#, C++
  • Databricks
  • Flyte, Tableau, Power BI

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, or growing data platforms that support AI or machine learning products.
  • Strong data operations and software engineering skills, including experience designing reliable data workflows and production-ready pipelines.
  • A clear understanding of the machine learning lifecycle and how dependable data supports model development and ongoing product improvement.
  • Experience working with governed data lakes and applying sound practices for data quality, organization, and access.
  • Ability to turn product, customer, and scientific needs into practical technical data solutions.
  • Excellent written communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain data concepts and recommendations to varied audiences.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
