Principal Product Manager

Remote

At MCG, we lead the healthcare community to deliver patient-focused care. We have a mission-driven team of talented physicians and technical experts developing our evidence-based content and innovating our products to accelerate improvements in healthcare. If you are driven to enhance the US healthcare system, MCG is eager to have you join our team. We cultivate a work environment that nurtures personal and professional growth, and this is a thrilling time to become a part of our organization. With dynamic roles that offer meaningful impact, you'll be able to fully realize your potential. Plus, you'll enjoy world-class benefits and the security, stability, and resources of our parent company, Hearst, with over 100 years of experience.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will shape product strategy across teams and own major initiatives from discovery through launch and improvement. You will bring customer insight and product judgment to AI and data products for healthcare, working closely with clinical and technical colleagues. This is a senior individual contributor role with direct product ownership.

You will:

  • Set product direction for major healthcare technology initiatives. Choose the customer problems to solve and own the work from discovery through launch and improvement.
  • Work across internal teams, customers, and partners to identify data needs and resolve access or quality gaps that affect product delivery and evaluation.
  • Take product ownership for strategic delivery teams when needed. Resolve scope and dependency decisions with the teams doing the work.
  • Assess customer demand, market alternatives, and regulatory changes. Build investment cases that explain the opportunity for MCG, the cost to deliver it, and the evidence still needed.
  • Translate customer and clinical needs into clear product requirements. Set priorities and work with delivery teams to define scope and success measures.
  • Coordinate product priorities across teams and customer or partner integrations. Resolve dependencies and make tradeoffs that support the broader product strategy.
  • Study how payer reviewers and provider clinicians work. Use customer research and development partnerships to identify where reviews stall, documentation creates rework, or a new capability could change the result.
  • Advise leaders on what to build, buy, or deliver through partners. Work with commercial teams on pricing, packaging, and adoption plans for the products and services you lead.
  • Work with clinical, data science, and engineering teams to turn customer feedback and performance findings into product improvements.
  • Establish customer baselines and measure changes in clinical quality, review effort, and financial results. Track adoption, revenue, retention, and service costs to judge whether the products work for customers and MCG.
  • Explain product choices to leaders, customers, and partners. Make the priorities, tradeoffs, and supporting evidence clear enough for them to act.
  • Mentor product managers through customer research, requirements, and roadmap decisions. Help teams question assumptions and use evidence to improve their work.
  • Work with clinical and technical teams to set product quality expectations, support release decisions, and monitor performance after launch.

What We’re Looking For:

  •  Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. We prefer an MBA, advanced clinical degree, technical degree, or equivalent domain experience.
  • At least 10–15 years of product management experience, preferably in healthcare technology, enterprise software, platform, data, or workflow products.
  • A record of setting enterprise product strategy, leading major initiatives through delivery, and demonstrating customer and business results.
  • Experience delivering AI, data, or platform products across teams, including shared capabilities and customer or partner integrations.
  • Demonstrated success influencing executive investment decisions. You can explain your recommendation, its assumptions, and the tradeoffs.
  • Experience taking an uncertain problem through customer research and delivery, and changing direction when the evidence calls for it.
  • We prefer experience with payer or provider operations, utilization management, clinical decision making, healthcare data, interoperability, or related healthcare domains.
  • Sound financial judgment. You can evaluate product costs, revenue and retention potential, and the tradeoffs between competing investments.
  • Clear writing and communication. You can explain complex clinical or technical work and help different audiences make a decision.
  • Practical fluency with AI tools and products. You can assess where AI fits a workflow, question its outputs, and explain its limits.
  • Work across team boundaries to identify who can resolve a problem and help remove dependencies that delay delivery.
  • Build working relationships with clinical, technical, and customer teams, and resolve disagreements through evidence and judgment.
