IT Support Specialist

The Role:  
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile IT Support/Helpdesk Specialist to join our dynamic and agile IT team. This role is a hybrid position that combines the hands-on technical support responsibilities of an IT Helpdesk Technician with the strategic, systems management, and optimization duties of an IT Support Specialist. The ideal candidate will have both a strong troubleshooting ability and a comprehensive understanding of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure. You will play a critical role in maintaining, improving, and securing the organization’s IT systems while also providing technical support to end-users.

Responsibilities: 

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide front-line IT support to staff by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and cloud service issues.
  • Prioritize and document incidents in our ticketing system, and ensuring tickets are resolved within a timely fashion.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Provide in-depth technical support for Office365, Teams, SharePoint, Azure, OneDrive, and InTune.
  • Complete tasks related to Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Permissions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and updates on company systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Participate in Onboarding and Offboarding employees, while helping to streamline the process across all business units.
  • Contribute to IT documentation and create user guides and training materials to help employees navigate IT systems more effectively.

Systems Management & Optimization:

  • Contribute with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure including servers, networking equipment, and cloud services.
  • Monitor system performance and security; identify and implement improvements.
  • Manage system backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery testing, both on premise and in the cloud.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures, including data security and user access management.
  • Work closely with other IT team members on network, software, and hardware upgrades.
  • Monitor, identify, and troubleshoot network systems, including LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks.

Project Support & Strategy:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of IT-related projects, including system upgrades, network expansions, and software deployments.
  • Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and procedures for systems and processes.
  • Provide input on IT strategy, infrastructure planning, and budgeting.

Participate in other IT duties as appropriate and based on the overall needs of IT and the company.

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in both IT support, helpdesk, and IT systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (some macOS), network configurations, and hardware components.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and tools for monitoring and securing networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell a plus.
  • Experience in project management or leading IT initiatives.

Compensation:  
The base salary range for this role is $66,000 - $87,000 annually, which is just one aspect of our total compensation package. In addition to the salary, this position is eligible for a potential annual bonus and equity! Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
