Staff Product Manager

Los Angeles, CA

MediaAlpha is a customer acquisition solutions provider powered by technology and data science. The company provides industry-leading solutions designed to reach consumers shopping within high-consideration categories such as property and casualty insurance, health insurance, life insurance, and more.

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in office).

This role owns the vision, strategy, and business outcomes for the product that sits at the center of that problem. The MediaAlpha Exchange Demand Platform is how advertisers across auto, home, life, personal finance, and Medicare find, bid on, and win their ideal customers in real-time auctions for clicks, calls, and leads. You'll set the long-term direction for how advertisers build and run campaigns, set bidding and pacing strategy, integrate via API, and measure what's actually driving conversion and LTV. You'll be fully accountable for the outcomes that strategy produces.

The core challenge: continue to expand and improve our demand-side platform that helps advertisers reduce customer-acquisition inefficiencies and grow LTV, while still providing high ROI. You'll balance advertiser sophistication (granular controls, custom bidding logic, deep reporting) with approachability for teams who don't want to become ad-tech specialists to run complex campaigns that continue to yield high ROI for our customers.

This is an individual contributor role. You'll partner closely with engineering, design, data science, product marketing, and our demand sales and account management teams. You'll also mentor other product managers across the demand organization, raising the bar for strategic thinking, execution, and product craft.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the Exchange Demand Platform, translating advertiser needs, marketplace dynamics, and business goals into a clear long-term direction and prioritized roadmap.
  • Be accountable for the platform’s business outcomes by defining and optimizing the product capabilities and marketplace mechanisms that drive advertiser acquisition and retention, campaign performance, conversion lift, LTV growth, and marketplace margin.
  • Own the advertiser experience end-to-end across self-serve and managed workflows, serving carriers, agents, and performance marketers across all MediaAlpha verticals.
  • Lead the evolution of bidding, targeting, and auction mechanics in partnership with data science and engineering to improve advertiser ROI and marketplace efficiency.
  • Identify repeatable patterns across advertiser needs through discovery with advertisers, account managers, and sales, and translate them into scalable, productized solutions.
  • Define the strategy, guardrails, and long-term direction for advertiser-facing APIs and integrations, establishing principles that balance enterprise flexibility with standardized, scalable platform capabilities.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, design, data science, and go-to-market teams, ensuring coordinated execution against product strategy and roadmap priorities.
  • Ensure product requirements and specifications provide clear context and direction for engineering and design execution.
  • Partner with product marketing, sales, and customer success to support successful go-to-market planning and launches.
  • Establish and leverage product success metrics to evaluate performance and inform roadmap decisions.
  • Leverage advanced AI tools to accelerate strategy development, requirement definition, and rapid prototyping across the product lifecycle.
  • Mentor other product managers and elevate product craft, strategic thinking, and execution standards across the team.
  • Communicate product strategy, progress, and trade-offs to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years at the Staff level.
  • Proven ownership of product vision, strategy, and measurable business outcomes for a complex SaaS or enterprise product area, ideally spanning both self-serve and managed workflows.
  • Track record of shipping complex, multi-stakeholder products iteratively and measuring their impact on real business outcomes.
  • Strong data-product instincts: you've worked with auction mechanics, bid optimization, performance analytics, or marketplace economics, and you can reason about trade-offs with engineering and data science.
  • Strong UX instincts for enterprise software: you believe advertiser tools should be intuitive, not just powerful, and you push for smart defaults with granular overrides.
  • Ability to balance competing needs across advertisers, internal go-to-market teams, and engineering, and distill them into a coherent, sequenced roadmap.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting strategy to senior leadership and external advertiser partners.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to work in a fast-moving environment, rolling up your sleeves to get things done.

Nice to Have

We value strong, general PM craft over specific domain familiarity. However, let us know if you have experience in any of these areas/fields:

  • Ad-tech, performance marketing, or programmatic advertising, especially in marketplaces or exchanges.
  • Real-time bidding (RTB), auction design, or bid optimization systems.
  • Lead generation, call marketplaces, or click-based performance products.
  • Insurance, personal finance, or Medicare verticals.
  • Campaign management tools, DSPs, or advertiser-facing reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Enterprise APIs and integration-heavy products.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
