Business Analyst II
MediaAlpha is a customer acquisition solutions provider powered by technology and data science. The company provides industry-leading solutions designed to reach consumers shopping within high-consideration categories such as property and casualty insurance, health insurance, life insurance, and more.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Business Analyst on the Analytics Team who will support data-driven decision-making across our sales, marketing, and business development teams. In this role, you will compile and interpret performance data, optimize advertiser campaigns, and serve as a trusted analytical partner to both internal teams and external clients. You will translate data into clear recommendations and communicate them with confidence. We also expect you to embrace AI tools as a core part of how you work, using them to move faster, write better, and do more with less. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your analytical and client-facing skill set in a fast-paced, data-rich environment.
Responsibilities
- Pull, clean, and analyze campaign performance data to surface actionable insights for advertisers and internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses that support business decisions.
- Serve as a direct point of contact for internal business teams – communicating performance results, diagnosing issues, and recommending optimizations with clarity and confidence.
- Translate data into concise, compelling narratives tailored to internal and external audiences.
- Assist with the optimization of advertiser CPC campaigns by monitoring KPIs and proactively flagging trends and opportunities.
- Develop fluency in the MediaAlpha platform’s tools, data structures, and marketplace mechanics.
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., large language models, AI-assisted coding, automated reporting) to accelerate analysis, improve output quality, and scale your impact.
- Collaborate with senior analysts and data science teammates to scope and implement analytical solutions.
- Help document analytical processes and contribute to building scalable, repeatable workflows.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of work experience in an analytical, business intelligence, or client-facing data role.
- B.S. or B.A. required, preferably in a quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, business, finance, math, engineering, or statistics).
- Experience with SQL for querying and transforming data.
- Exposure to Python, R, or another scripting language.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data manipulation).
- Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to accelerate analysis, automate workflows, or draft client-ready content.
- Strong analytical ability and experience working with structured data sets.
- Comfort presenting findings and fielding questions in a client-facing or consultative context.
- Solid understanding of data visualization and the ability to tell a clear story with data.
- Comfort with basic statistical concepts (e.g., averages, distributions, confidence intervals)
- Self-starter with the ability to think critically and willingness to learn required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AdTech, performance marketing, or insurance a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
We are excited to offer a competitive base pay range of $75,000 to $110,000 for this position, based on experience and qualifications. As a valued member of our team, you will also have access to top-notch benefits, including:
- Annual bonus program and participation in our Restricted Stock Unit program.
- 100% Employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for you, your dependents, and spouse or registered domestic partner.
- 100% Employer-paid long-term disability and life insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan with matching contributions.
- Open Paid Time Off policy with a birthday day off and 11 holidays.
