DevOps Tech Lead
We are looking for a DevOps Tech Lead to guide our passionate DevOps team in delivering secure, high-quality, and scalable solutions while empowering engineering teams to deliver exceptional products. As a key part of our Platform Engineering group, you will take the lead in ensuring our infrastructure, processes, and delivery pipelines are at their peak performance. With a focus on serverless technologies and AWS services, you will drive innovation and best practices while solving complex challenges tailored to our unique needs.
We aspire to be as serverless as possible and heavily use AWS lambda functions, as well other AWS services such as SQS, SNS, CloudFormation SAM and RDS.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or a related role.
- Proven expertise in AWS platforms, including Lambda, SQS, SNS, and RDS.
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling, with a focus on integration security and efficiency.
- Hands-on knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent IaC solutions.
- Solid understanding of monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog) and observability principles, with availability and stability mindset.
Skills:
- Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js).
- Ability to design scalable, resilient, and secure architectures for production systems.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams effectively.
Bonus points:
Familiarity with serverless-first design approaches.
Expertise with DataDog.
A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of DevOps engineers (5 team members) , fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment.
- Define and implement best practices in DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and security.
- Infrastructure Management & Automation: Oversee and enhance our nearly serverless infrastructure using AWS services like Lambda, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation SAM, and RDS.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of production systems.
- Lead the design and optimization of CI/CD pipelines for efficient and secure code delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve deployment processes and ensure integration security.
- Monitoring, Visibility & Security: Establish advanced observability using tools like DataDog, focusing on monitoring, alerts, and metrics.
- Integrate security practices into all aspects of DevOps, ensuring data protection and secure application delivery.
- Partner with engineering teams to provide guidance on DevOps best practices, tools, and infrastructure.
- Continuously seek and implement improvements and initiatives to processes across R&D, fostering innovation and efficiency.
About the hiring department:
The Engineering department is the backbone of Melio. We provide consultation, support and designs for technical solutions—supporting our customers and the entire organization. We get involved from the early stage of a project, making the connection between customer needs, our product design, and then translating these into solutions.
The Platform engineering group is responsible for 2 main areas:
- DevOps - all Melio’s Devops engineers are building the engineering infrastructure and responsible for SRE (site reliability engineering) and DevX (Developer Experience)
- Platform Services - Common services that serves Melio’s products (Such as authentication service, file service, Notifications such as emails and SMS sent to users And developers’ common tool, templates and packages

In Melio, we are all in with AWS Serverless. Meaning all our services are managed by AWS and our infrastructure is deployed using SAM CLI built over CloudFormation.
Serverless gives us the freedom to build, scale and deploy applications faster than ever. We combine the usage of relational and document DBS, write mainly in TypeScript and Python for consistency and ability to share resources.
