What is Liminal?

What is this role, really?

This is not a traditional recruiter role.

As Talent Acquisition (Technical Recruiter), you are a co-builder of founding teams. You help founders assemble exceptional crews that determine whether a venture breaks through - or breaks down.

You will work closely with founders and build leaders to identify, court, and close key tech talent at the moments when timing, trust, and judgment matter most. At the same time, you will play an active role in shaping and reinforcing our culture. You are equal parts researcher, advisor, closer, and steward of Liminal’s culture and reputation.

 

What you’ll do

  • Own technology talent builds
    Lead full-cycle hiring for Liminal and our ventures, shaping early-stage Product and Engineering teams in ambiguous, zero-to-one contexts.

  • Operate as a talent advisor, not an order-taker
    Collaborate closely with founders and build leaders to shape role definitions and hiring strategy. Research and map the market to identify top talent. Challenge assumptions, adapt strategies, and ensure the right fit for each role.
  • Source creatively
    Use unconventional approaches to develop strong pipelines and build trusted networks of tech talent across geographies. 

  • Design and evolve our hiring craft
    Define interview structures, assessment standards, and offer philosophy as we scale.

  • Represent Liminal with care and clarity
    Deliver a candidate experience that reflects who we are: respectful, precise, human, and founder-centric - even when the answer is “not now.”

  • Shape and reinforce Liminal’s culture
    Go beyond filling roles, ensuring every touchpoint is consistent with who we are at Liminal: high ownership and low ego.

 

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Hired exceptional technical talent (engineering, data, AI/ML, or product) in early-stage, high-impact environments, ideally in 0-1 contexts.
  • Bring sharp research instincts to map talent markets, identify gaps and assess compensation dynamics.
  • Influence founders and leaders with confidence, clarity and good judgment.
  • Make smart calls with incomplete information - when there’s no playbook, you write one!
  • Prioritize quality, discretion, and long-term relationships over speed for speed’s sake
  • Proficient with ATS and modern recruitment platforms

 

Nice to have

  • Experience in executive search, talent strategy, or founder-facing advisory roles
  • Exposure to hiring globally across multiple geographies and time zones, including the Americas and Greater China
  • A point of view on what great early-stage teams actually look like
