Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Wealth Strategist - Insurance to join our growing Insurance Solutions team supporting our high-net-worth and ultra-high-net worth segments (Ascend and Regis). The Insurance Solutions team supports Wealth Advisors and their clients by providing a fiduciary and financial planning lens to insurance advice, support, and education in all areas of risk management. We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving engagement with advisors to protect clients and help them achieve their wealth preservation objectives.  Our goal is to enhance Best-in-Class client-advisor experience while serving the end-client’s best interests of our clients today and into the future.

Essential Job Functions for this role include:

  • Manage a Growing Book of Business: Develop campaigns to create awareness, generate interest and engagement to uncover risk management opportunities within the firm. Collaborate with carriers and General Agencies to leverage existing product experts and resources to design and execute customized risk mitigation plans from start to end: product selection, case design, illustration, application fulfillment and policy placement. After a policy is placed, relationships are maintained and fostered through periodic policy reviews of existing business with wealth advisor teams. Ability to work independently and with a team, manage projects, and track open opportunities will be needed to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Build and foster relationships: Our team’s success lies within our ability to create an environment based in trust through regular communication and the use of active listening skills. Positive relationships with advisors, clients, and our business partners is paramount and participation in advisor, branch, and regional meetings is encouraged. Advisors should trust us to address all liability, risk management, and asset protection needs for their clients. Partnering with our Tax, Financial & Estate Planning teams, and our Trust department will be critical.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert: Possess an in-depth understanding of the insurance industry especially related to multi-generational wealth planning. Candidate should also have an understanding of general financial planning principles and estate planning strategies, including the use of trusts in connection with insurance needs.
  • Exhibit a Growth Mindset: Maintain up to date knowledge of insurance products and industry news to assist wealth advisors in navigating this landscape as part of the planning and sales process. An understanding of our operational processes and Mercer systems is essential, and we encourage teammates to voice new ideas as we continuously strive to improve our Best-in-Class offerings to the firm and our clients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred (preferably Psychology, Business, Economics, Accounting or Finance related field)
  • Advanced education (e.g., MBA, JD with LLM) and insurance credentials (CLU) strongly preferred
  • History of generating $1M+ in annual target premium of permanent life products
  • Minimum ten years financial services industry and/or insurance industry experience strongly preferred along with internal/external sales experience
  • Licensed insurance agent in good standing with Resident State and ability to obtain and maintain multiple Non-Resident State licenses
  • Ability to obtain a Series 6 FINRA registration to support variable product sales
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills
  • Passion for educating and training
  • Organized - detail-oriented, strong multi-tasker, and excellent follow-through
  • An unwavering commitment to place clients’ needs first and best support advisor’s financial plan providing Best-in-Class client-advisor experience
  • Strong understanding of underwriting, case management, operations, and insurance new business processes and implementation timeframes
  • Point of sale experience required
  • Previous Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) support a plus
  • Working knowledge of property and casualty, and disability insurance are a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and willingness to learn CRM system
  • Team player, collaborative, and able to work in concert with others

Work Schedule:

This position is remote with up to 30% travel. If preference is to work from a local market office open for discussion.

Working Conditions:

Professional office environment, daytime and evening hours, working inside, standing, and sitting, will be assigned to a workstation.
