Senior Product Manager - Accounting User Experience

San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, Portland, OR, or Remote within Canada or United States

Mercury exists to create a new way for entrepreneurs to experience their business finances, and we believe managing money should feel intuitive, insightful, and calming. We’re building a new accounting experience that will give business owners a clearer picture of their business health and help them collaborate seamlessly with their accountants for tax time. This is not about throwing charts and tables at people; it’s about bringing wisdom to their fingertips and creating a single, thoughtful “money” experience that feels like magic.

As a Senior Product Manager - Accounting User Experience, you’ll guide the creation of a product that brings clarity and perspective to business owners without bogging them down in the technicalities of accounting. You’ll help them find and work with accountants, explore their finances, and see the story of their business unfold through real-time metrics. In short, you’ll make the complicated feel simple, the stressful feel manageable, and the mundane feel helpful.

This role is about crafting an experience that’s more than just functional—it’s meaningful. And you’ll work across Mercury to ensure this experience feels like it belongs, seamlessly woven into the fabric of our banking platform.

*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.

As part of the journey, we would expect you to:

  • Be the steward of clarity: Own the core experiences and roadmap that bring completed accounting data to life, helping business owners understand their numbers and work seamlessly with their accountants.
  • Shape a unified story: Rethink how accounting and banking interact to create a single, harmonious “money” experience that no one has built before.
  • Work across the ecosystem: Collaborate with design, engineering, revenue, and growth teams to ensure the product feels unified and effortless from every angle.
  • Empower connection: Design tools that foster collaboration between business owners and accountants, making it easy to complete books and uncover insights together.
  • Build for people, not processes: Focus on how accounting data is consumed and understood, leaving the heavy lifting of technical workflows like reconciliation to a separate product.
  • Drive adoption with care: Partner with growth teams to build a community of accountants who not only use but champion Mercury’s accounting tools.
  • Stay curious and grounded: Use data and feedback to inform your priorities and decisions, always keeping the user’s experience at the heart of your work.

Some things that might make you successful in a role like this:

  • You’re experienced: You have 5+ years of relevant product management experience in a growth stage technology company working directly with engineers and designers on user-facing products.
  • You care about people: You understand the unique challenges business owners and accountants face, and you’re passionate about building tools that make their lives easier.
  • You thrive in complexity: You’re skilled at taking intricate problems and distilling them into experiences that feel obvious in hindsight.
  • You have a technical edge: You can collaborate closely with engineers, providing clear and thoughtful requirements that lead to polished features.
  • You see the big picture: You’re excited about creating a cohesive product experience that feels as magical as it is practical.
  • You lead with empathy: You care deeply about the user experience and make decisions with their perspective in mind.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
