Senior Product Manager - Account Fraud and Enablement
Holds. Limits. Locks. Closures. The judicious use of these tools are designed to protect good customers. But if wielded maladroitly, good customers get entangled in unnecessary friction, burden our operations teams, and may become detractors and churn. At Mercury, we believe banking* should be empowering and seamless, not difficult, confusing, or stressful.
As the Senior Product Manager for Account Fraud and Risk Enablement, you’ll build products that enable Mercury to master these tools and deftly balance customer experience with fraud prevention. You'll develop a deep understanding of our customers and our money movement products to build systems that protect our customers and Mercury from fraud. You’ll work cross-functionally to build 0-1 products for both end users and internal risk teams that enable Mercury to provide a seamless and safe banking experience.
We are looking for someone that can lead us in redefining how risk friction is used, measured, and optimized to unlock the seamless, magical banking experience we believe is possible.
*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.
What You'll Do:
- Design and implement the strategic vision for Mercury's risk enablement - including hold management, limit structures, step-up verification, and related friction points
- Create user journeys that apply appropriate friction based on risk signals while minimizing disruption to legitimate customer activity
- Develop self-service resolution paths that empower customers to navigate risk-related obstacles with minimal manual intervention
- Build the operational tools that enable our risk and support teams to efficiently manage exceptions and high-touch cases
- Partner with data science to develop and deploy risk models that continuously improve through feedback loops
- Partner with the product teams building the platform for the future of risk management at Mercury
- Establish and track metrics that measure both risk effectiveness and customer experience impact
- Support the development of API strategies that allow Mercury's risk capabilities to scale across our expanding product suite
What You Bring:
- 7+ years of product management experience, ideally with experience in financial risk systems or anti-fraud infrastructure
- Deep understanding of how friction points affect customer experience and customer retention metrics
- Experience working with automated decisioning systems using multiple data inputs and complex rule engines
- Proficiency in understanding risk data and identifying patterns that can be operationalized into product improvements
- Strong track record of cross-functional leadership, particularly in navigating tradeoffs between risk, compliance, and customer experience priorities
- Exceptional communication skills that allow you to translate complex risk concepts into actionable product strategies
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to make balanced decisions with imperfect information
