Senior Engineering Manager - Reconciliation
In the heart of Switzerland, where the art of watchmaking has been perfected over centuries, lies a testament to precision, engineering excellence, and enduring quality. Swiss watches are renowned not only for their elegance but also for their intricate mechanisms that ensure accuracy and reliability. Each component, no matter how small, is crafted with meticulous care, and the entire system operates in harmony to keep perfect time. This tradition of excellence reflects the very essence of reconciliation—ensuring every detail aligns with precision.
At Mercury, our Reconciliation team embodies this same spirit. We are tasked with maintaining the integrity of billions in deposits across multiple financial institutions, ensuring that every transaction is accounted for accurately. Our platform integrates with every banking primitive and payment rail, operates with near real-time efficiency, and provides clarity and confidence in our financial records. As we build and maintain this critical infrastructure, we seek a leader who can steer this effort with the same dedication to precision and longevity as Swiss watchmakers.
If you are passionate about leading a team that ensures the stability and trustworthiness of our financial systems, we invite you to take on this pivotal role. Together, let's craft a reconciliation platform that stands the test of time, much like the timeless elegance of a Swiss watch.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for
- Architecting and building out a next-generation reconciliation engine.
- Guiding our banking* organization through adoption of recon solutions, and championing their integration.
- Graceful sunsetting of legacy solutions we wish to move past.
- Factoring out common patterns into a platform that other teams can integrate with.
- Cultivating a trusting, psychologically safe, and supportive culture on your team.
- Integrating with every partner bank and payment provider that we work with.
- Being the technical liaison on external meetings with reconciliation partners.
The ideal candidate for the role:
- Has 5+ years of engineering management leading full-stack, product engineering teams
- Has made architectural decisions in the past and seen the impact of those decisions over time. You should be able to clearly articulate your technical opinions and lay out tradeoffs.
- Is passionately product-minded and has experience building and shipping new products.
- Is someone comfortable driving discussions in areas with ambiguous ownership, approaches them with empathy, and delights in getting outcomes. Our work touches many other teams and areas of the product; you’ll have a lot of autonomy and the expectation is you’ll use that to seek out ways to have an impact.
- Be familiar with our tech stack (specifically, Haskell, and TypeScript), or have an interest in learning it.
The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry.
