Developer Relations Engineer
Merge is the leading provider of agentic tools and customer-facing integrations for frontier LLMs, Fortune 500 organizations, and B2B SaaS companies. Our platform offers two core products: Merge Unified, which enables businesses to add hundreds of integrations to their products with a single API, and Merge Agent Handler, which empowers AI agents with secure access to thousands of third-party tools. Merge's enterprise-grade platform handles the entire integration lifecycle, from authentication and security to monitoring and maintenance. Thousands of companies trust Merge to accelerate product development, unblock sales, reduce customer churn, and save engineering resources—allowing them to focus on their core product.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll be the voice and face of Merge for the AI developer community, lighting up the builders who want to ship real products with agents, LLMs, and integrations. This role is about driving awareness, activation, and long-term love for Merge: helping developers get onboarded quickly, build confidently, and keep coming back as their use cases scale.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role at the intersection of community, content, and real technical work. You’ll write docs, build sample apps, create tutorials and demos, and show the world what’s possible with Merge through videos, talks, and developer-first storytelling. You’ll have a senior advisor to partner with, but success comes from being curious, self-directed, and comfortable thriving in ambiguity.
What will you be doing?
Content and documentation
-
Write quick start guides, tutorials, and how-to content for Agent Handler and Unified
- Build small sample applications that demonstrate real integration patterns developers can copy and adapt
- Create short-form video content including demos, product walkthroughs, and quick tutorials for YouTube and social distribution on X.
- Identify gaps in existing docs by testing the developer journey yourself and logging what breaks
- Contribute to SEO-optimized blog posts that target developer search intent
Community and distribution
- Monitor developer forums and community channels for common friction points and surface them internally
- Own and execute community channel strategy across Discord, developer forums, and social platforms, including growing presence and defining engagement playbooks.
- Help amplify Merge content across relevant developer communities and events without being spammy about it
- Support influencer and creator partnerships by preparing briefs, reviewing content, and checking technical accuracy
Developer experience
- Test real-world use cases against the product and document what works and what does not
- Channel developer feedback from docs, community, and content back to the product team
- Create eye catching videos for X that entice developers to learn more
- Help maintain the YouTube channel with short-form demos and walkthroughs
What experience is required?
We care more about curiosity, technical credibility, and communication ability than years of experience. That said, you should have:
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Developer Relations Engineer-related occupation. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Computer Science or a related field, and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a Developer Relations Engineer-related occupation.
- Some professional or project experience building with APIs. You should be comfortable reading API docs, making API calls, and debugging authentication issues without much help.
- Exposure to AI agent frameworks, LLMs, or tool-calling patterns. You do not need to be an expert, but knowing what an agent is helps
- The ability to write clearly about technical topics without being dry. You do not need to be a poet, but you should be able to explain a concept to a developer who has never seen it before.
- Genuine interest in the developer experience. You notice when something is confusing and you want to fix it.
- Comfort working asynchronously in a fast-moving environment where things change frequently
- A public artifact of some kind: a GitHub repo, a blog, a demo video, a side project. Something that shows you build and share.
Nice to have
- Experience with content formats like video walkthroughs, demos, or screencasts
- Basic SEO awareness. You understand why keyword intent matters and how to structure content for search
