Manager, Immersive Experience Design

About the Role
As a Manager, Immersive Experience Design, you will play a key role in bringing extraordinary physical, digital, and hybrid experiences to life across health and consumer industries. You will translate strategic direction into compelling, multi-sensory environments that elevate brand stories and create meaningful human connections. This role blends creative execution with leadership of project workstreams, ensuring deliverables meet high-quality standards and align with client goals. You will collaborate closely with senior leaders, cross-functional partners, and clients to deliver immersive experiences that resonate deeply with diverse audiences and drive measurable business impact.

This role is responsible and accountable for:

Strategic Experience and Design Execution

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement immersive design strategies that align creative concepts with business objectives and customer insights.
  • Lead assigned workstreams or mid-scale projects from concept through delivery—driving storytelling and brand integration while coordinating with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure alignment and quality.
  • Apply strong omnichannel thinking to ensure immersive experiences complement and enhance broader customer journeys and brand ecosystems.
  • Maintain quality and consistency by adhering to established design standards, while adapting solutions to meet specific client and audience needs.
  • Contribute to scopes of work, timelines, and resource planning, balancing creative ambition with operational and budgetary constraints.

Cultivate Design Excellence Within the MERGE Experience Team

  • Contribute to a collaborative and inspiring team culture by sharing expertise, providing feedback, and mentoring junior designers on project work.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in immersive and experiential design, and bring forward relevant ideas to strengthen project outcomes.
    Apply immersive design best practices in execution—championing spatial storytelling, craft, and innovation to elevate the quality of deliverables.

Client Relationships and Engagement:

  • Serve as a day-to-day design lead with clients, translating direction and feedback into actionable design solutions.

  • Support senior leaders in presentations, pitches, and proposal development by preparing materials and contributing creative ideas.
  • Build strong working relationships with client contacts, reinforcing trust and positioning MERGE as a valued partner in immersive experience design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Experience Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
    6–8 years of professional experience in immersive, experiential, or environmental design, with experience leading project workstreams or small teams.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute impactful physical and/or digital experiences.
  • Strong foundation in spatial storytelling, human-centered design, and multi-sensory experience creation.
  • Strong experience designing in-store retail experiences, along with exposure to other industries such as health and life sciences, quick-service restaurants (QSR), connected living (e.g., smart home, IoT), and financial services. Able to apply lessons learned across industries to create effective immersive solutions for both B2B and B2C audiences.
  • Skilled at collaborating with internal teams and managing vendor deliverables to ensure executional excellence.
  • Proficiency in design and visualization tools (Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Cinema4D, or similar) and collaborative project management tools (Google Suite, etc.).
  • Familiarity or experience applying emerging technologies such as AR and VR, or other emerging technologies  to enhance immersive and experiential design solutions is a plus. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present work and rationale effectively to internal and client stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is $101,000 - $121,000, based on the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
